"Fox claimed Suarez was a Mexican citizen who was denied his right to assistance from the Mexican consulate at the time of his arrest."
Fox has been indicating that all of his illegal aliens that are here are practically U.S. citizens, and should enjoy the same fruits of justice that Americans enjoy. So now, why is Fox claiming that this "poor fellow" Suarez is a Mexican National and should be treated to special justice?? Suarez deserves what any other "citizen" would get for his cold-blooded crime.

As a Texan I am aware that we have had to chase these folks back across the river more than once. I am not at all disappointed by the turn of events.
I suggest that Senor Fox mind his own beeswax.

If they live in our country--they live by our rules, just as we have to do. Frankly, I couldn't care less if Vicente Fox ever visits the USA again.

"Fox is showing the United States that if it ignores Mexico, Mexico will ignore it," said Javier Mendez, a 33-year-old accountant who said he listened to live coverage of Suarez's execution on his car radio.
Mexico already ignores the border, why not ignore the rest of the US too?

Well, Fox HAD to make a gesture in order to "save face" since he'd officially spoken against the execution. If he'd kept his mouth shut, he could be looking forward to barbeque in Crawford.
One thing the sympathetic news media fails to point out is that the case dates back to Clinton's era. After 9/11, I can't imagine a country dumb enough to believe we'd actually send a message to criminals that it's okay, after all, to kill an America's policeman. Fox's plea and subsequent pouting is all for show.

Gee, maybe the Mexicans who are crossing the border every day will get scared they might be executed in the US and decide to stay home?
Fat chance, huh?

"
Fox is the most pro-U.S. president in recent Mexican history, but his critics say U.S. officials still shrug off his requests and ignore Mexican interests on important issues."Yeah. He thinks the entire southwest US is really Mexican territory. Trouble is, the way the Mexican illegals have flooded in over the last 50 years, and continue to do, with the compliance of our own gubmint, he may be more right than wrong.

Mr. Fox canceled for Mexican media consumption. Meeting will be rescheduled.
As sad as as execution, this does establish those who commit crimes in the USA will be tried in the USA. If this criminal was a diplomat he would have recieved a life sentence.
It also puts those who cross the border on notice.

I'd say that incarceration in a Mexican prison is a fate worst than death.
I have a roadside picture of the one just south of Santa Rosalia in Baja. It has four tall walls with guardtowers at corners. Lamp posts inside and outside the compound. A water source that seems to basically ditch it through the compound into the desert beyond. No structures vislble within walls other than lampposts
The prison between Cabo and La Paz looks identical -- inhumane.

Does anyone know if Mexico has the death penalty and has executed Americans?

Hey that is a great link you replied with: "Vicente Fox-Crime Fighter of the Year" Also, I was thrilled to see the author of the article, George Putnam is still alive and well. He is 88 years old now. He was a top LosAngeles newscaster in the 60's
and it looks like he is still full of "Freeper Fire". Why dont
you post that article if it has not been already?

Well, finally proof for the ultra left wing, extremists liberal, crypto-Marxists that capital punishment does, indeed, serve as a deterrent. If we execute a criminal illegal cop killer from Mexico and it STOPS JUST ONE OTHER SLEAZY MEXICAN from coming across our border, then it has been worth it.
We will never know how much drugs Fox and those with him with diplomatic immunity might have brought across the border. But, they won't come this trip. How they will explain this to their drug lord masters, we don't know, but that is their problem.
The cop killer snuck across the border when young and, by definition, was a criminal illegal alien all the while he was in the US. Fox urged us to forgo the appropriate punishment for his second crime and used the first crime as the mitigating element.
Mexicans are the most arrogant 3rd worlders on earth and are those with the least to be arrogant about.

10th paragraph:
Perry spokeswoman Kathy Walt said the governor believed Fox recognized the sovereignty of Texas and U.S. law. Mexico doesn't have a death penalty and refuses to extradite people who might face capital punishment in another country.

Mexico does not have a Death penalty. They also will not extradite fugitives back to the U.S. if there is the possibility that they would face execution here. Read the link a couple posts back, "Vicente Fox- Crimefighter of the Year"

"Perry spokeswoman Kathy Walt said the governor believed Fox recognized the sovereignty of Texas and U.S. law"
Why doesn't the governor just ask Fox??

"...Well, Fox HAD to make a gesture in order to "save face" since he'd officially spoken against the execution. If he'd kept his mouth shut, he could be looking forward to barbeque in Crawford..." Fox miscalculated badly by openly demanding what he should have known he couldn't have. And, as a consequence -in a culture that still values traditional 'Machismo'- he now looks impotent and weak.
He'll have to recoup his lost honor by doing something, or be seen as allowing something to happen, that pokes America in the eye.
Wonder what that'll be?
