AMSTERDAM, Netherlands (AP) _ A Dutch man indicted in a U.S. child pornography case is already serving a 30-month sentence in the Netherlands for the same crimes, justice officials said Thursday.
The man, Dirk-Jan Prins, was convicted in May of possessing child pornography and as an accomplice in the sexual assault of a 9-year-old Danish girl. Prins was one of 10 Europeans and 10 Americans named in an indictment by the U.S. Customs Service that was unsealed in Fresno, Calif., last Friday.
U.S. investigators allege members of the group swapped pornographic pictures and videos of children _ often their own _ over the Internet. A spokesman for the district attorney's office in the eastern Dutch city of Dordrecht said Prins was taken into custody on Feb. 5 on a tip from Danish police and was sentenced on May 21.
According to court documents, he had about 25 CD-ROMs and 45 videotapes in his possession when arrested, including a tape of a 7-year-old boy who appeared to be drugged as he was sexually assaulted by an adult man. The court said that while Prins wasn't physically present at the assault on the 9-year-old Danish girl, he had mailed sex implements to the girl's stepfather, Eggert Jansen. He requested photos of an assault using the implements, making him an accomplice in the case of the girl.
The Justice Department has said it will seek extradition of Prins and other Europeans accused of involvement in the ring. But a spokesman for the Dutch court where Prins was sentenced said it was unlikely Prins would be surrendered to the Americans. ``We haven't yet received an official extradition request, and I don't think it's likely that we will,'' said the district attorney's spokesman Mischa Tol. ``He's already in jail, and you can't be punished twice for the same crime.'' Prins's sentence includes a two-year probation period, during which he will undergo therapy.
In the United States, each charge of sexual exploitation of children, conspiracy to exploit children, and receiving and distributing child pornography carries a mandatory minimum sentence of 10 years to a maximum of 20 years. Prins' accomplice in the assault and the victim's mother, Bente Jansen, have been charged in Denmark with sexually exploiting a child, and with receiving and distributing child pornography. Danish police also said it was unlikely that the pair would be extradited, given that the case involved Danish citizens and crimes were committed on Danish soil.
The investigation into the larger group began when the international charity Save the Children found a picture on the Internet that appeared to show a child being molested and reported it to Danish authorities. In all, 45 children were victimized, including 37 Americans ranging in age from 2 to about 14, U.S. Customs officials said.

It would appear that the Euro-weenies don't sentence enough for these truly horrific crimes. Not that I believe that US justice is tough enough on these evil perverts, however, Europe seems to take this sort of thing even more lightly in their court systems. It's no wonder they won't extradite their citizens to the hated US...too hard on pedophiles for their "sophisticated" tastes.
When I think of how the Belgium pedophile scandals of the 1990's were bungled, covered up and swept under the rug, it makes my blood boil. The sincere Belgian citizens who demanded swift justice, decency and severe penalties for criminals who sexually exploited children were completely ignored in that case.
I'll bet that the Danish authorities reunite the pedophile parents with their children after they have served their time and gone through "therapy." Typical liberal response to absolute evil.

Prins's sentence includes a two-year probation period, during which he will undergo therapy. In Holland - probably therapy by pornography and visiting brothels. Oh - and while using drugs. He'll be just fine when he finishes his probation. But if I lived in Holland, I'd hide my children. It's the most unGodly country in the world.

Same therapy for the victims, no doubt.

And to think that a great Christian woman like Corrie Ten Boom came from there. My prayers are with the decent peoples still left in Holland. How sad to see such a beautiful country descend into depravity and indifference to destructive behavior. (Of course, parts of the US are not far behind if the socialists and "if-it-feels-good-just-do-it" voters have their way.)

Exactly, I lived there for two years back in the 70's and recently returned. I was quite suprised by the changes I observed there. I thought it was bad before but it is so much worse now.
There are a number of good people there too, they just feel like they have been run over by an avalanche or tidal wave of filth.

Holland - where pornographic magazines stare out at children on newstands, where old people are afraid of being euthanized against their will in the hospital, where it's legal for men to have homosexual sex with 12-year old boys, where nobody remembers Jesus Christ or what he taught, where drugs are sold on the streetcorners, where prostitution has been made a national industry, where marriage is a forgotten institution, where lesbian or single mothers can create their own (fatherless) children from bought sperm, and where abortion ships are sent out around the world. I would puke if I had to live in Holland.

I am Dutch and live in the Netherlands.
And I agree (ha, you didn't expect me to agree don't you?).
The socialists, liberals and PC crowd wrecked the country in every possible way they could find. The legalization of drugs, prositution and most crimes didn't work as well as they thought. Dutch police only has a zero-tolerance policy on speeding, and only got a 15% rate of solved crimes. More than three times as less as German districts.
The Netherlands top the crime-statistics in Europe. Luckily there are still normal areas to live in, but some parts are better avoided. The worst part of the Hague (Schilderswijk) is not on maps for tourists, guess why!
Take it from a Dutchman: don't make the same mistake as we did, like surrendering to criminals and junks.

Did you know just recently in the Netherlands posession of child-pornography was prohibited just a few years back? It was legal to own it, not to sell it!

We just gave the socialist/liberal government the boot and we hope to undo some damage. Butsince Pim Fortuyn was killed a lot of people don't know anymore. I was thinking about moving to the US a while ago, and now a lot of people also want to leave. We can't blame them, can we?

Maybe you should run for office in Holland! (I'm serious.)

I am still to young for that. People don't take young people serious I have found out. And since I don't see myself living in the Netherlands in a couple of years, I better fight for people that still are. Dutch people don't really care what happens to them. The lefties could do all the damage because no one questioned them. Pim Fortuyn did it. He paid for his life. But since he is gone things have start falling apart. It seems not much changed.
I think I'd rather come over to the US and do some liberal kicking there!

I know that you are from the Netherlands. I admire your posts and threads! I have a couple of friends whose parents came from there...they say the same thing. I'm sure that there are many decent people still living in that part of Europe. Perhaps, someday, they will band together and make their presence known. It seems that the druggies, deviants, criminals and obnoxious Muslim immigrants are making the most noise. Prayers for you and your people.

Thanks. We Dutch people were in need of a wake up call. After 9/11 and Pim Fortuyn things changed. But I am afraid it will change back again in a while. The muslims still get many children and in a while they will outnumber our children. There is no way we can stop that.

I think I'd rather come over to the US and do some liberal kicking there! Well, we could use the help. An advance welcome to the USA!!!
