Desai and others blame what seems to be a wave of new U.S. policies that they regard as selfish and unilateral, stretching back to President Bush's refusal last year to support the international treaty on global warming.

They never admit that the U.S. Senate failed to ratify this treaty under Clinton, do they? Nope. They always want to put the blame for this entirely on the Bush Administration. Well, guess what, liberals? I think that my president is doing a great job!

if you are american, then it is impossible not to have great love and respect for the achievements of our forefathers. The world has not seen a country like america other than america. We've been fighting wars of significance every 20-25 years since before we fought the revolution, and furthermore those wars were fought out of very noble intentions generally. In the american mindset these war adventures to kill bad guys are normal.

Perhaps our heavy-handed involvement to engender greater albania and lesser serbia a few years ago is an example whereby the europeans have a reasonable criticism of us though. OTOH, if we had zero involvement in the former yugo in last decade, then what worst things would have happened. The europeans should've taken care of that problem and we should've stayed out. Problem is, the Europeans don't take care of things.

I wonder what the europeans thought in 1898 when we kicked the spanish out of peurto rico, cuba, panama & phillipines. They were happy to have us in france in 44. I think the people in berlin were happy to have jfk take a liking to them. I think the people of south korea were really happy we crazin americans landed at pusan in 52. Those crazy americans paid some high prices too that time. I think the people of phillipines are going to rest easy now that the muslim terrorists in their country were recently whacked by US army efforts.

These sacrifices paid by american blood have had a traumatic effect on our nation. It has tended to normalize our ability to think about such things and to act.

For example, I think we should've sent troops to Rwanda and Congo to stop the genocide in 94. They've had over a million dead, we could've stopped it. I think that today we should send troops to overthrow Mugabe. There is an old saying from Africa. What do you need to have a successful coup in Africa? '5 good men' We've got 5 good men, we can take out mugabe. The alternative to overthrowing mugabe really is to watch hundreds of thousands of people either starve or be murdered in zimbabwe. We can't do things the american way in zimbabwe as we did in kosovo because africa is africa. The europeans should consider carefully why they don't help us in these things. So should the japanese and even the chinese.

But, both non-americans and americans should consider that these new world order types of institutions which america is supporting strongly have the potential to be terrible tyrants. Also, americans are arrogant by nature, it is a negative trait.
