August 14, 2002 -- An all-star cast of New York Democratic politicians plans to upstage official Sept. 11 commemorations with a paid TV commercial the day before, officials said last night.
The New York state Democratic Party is paying for an ad showing about 40 Democrats as they recite Lincoln's Gettysburg address - the same speech that Gov. Pataki will read at the official ceremony the next day.

New York State Democratic Party spokeswoman Serena Torrey said the ad is "an opportunity for our Democratic office-holders to express condolences in a nonpolitical way." Asked why no Republicans were invited, Torrey replied: "This is on behalf of our organization of Democrats."oh, OK...?????

Makes me sick. These bastards are so threatened by a one year anniversary spike in Bush's ratings that they have to do this? They just can't stand when someone else has the spotlight. Just plain wrong.

This is a weak attempt at "me too, me too"
I predict it will be more slick and produced than the public ceremony since the Dem's have seen what is planned.
This will also be used for convention footage and campaigns to avoid having use rallies where their candidates are in the perpetual W shadow.

They are idiots!

Proof once again how inferior Democraps are. They are buying time to recite A DEAD REPUBLICANS SPEECH!!!! No JFK! No FDR! They read from Lincoln! This point should be made to humiliate the Democraps that they can't even write an original speech without stealing from a dead Republican!Maybe Joe Biden can find an "original" speech.

Just when I thought I couldn't hate these people any more. I was going to hope that it backfires on them but I really don't want to benefit from this at all. May God have mercy on their souls.

For me the realization that Democrats had no real ideas of their own was during the '96 presidential campaign.
The GOP convention came first, and featured themes that included 'Building a Bridge to the new millenium' That theme was brilliant and filled with hope. All in all the GOP convention looked sure to put Bob Dole in Office. It was everything the Democrat's didn't have.
Then came the Democrat's convention. I was stunned, amazed, and brought speachless. It was the same exact theme. I can't recall anyone remarking on the fact that Clinton had blatantly chose to co-opt the GOP's idea. In fact I can recall Bro-Caw exclaiming how wonderfull the Idea was, and how brilliant the Democrats were to come up with that theme. Soon after that Clinton started listening to everything Dole said and repeating it.
If I could turn back time and somehow manage to get Dole to listen I would have urged him to push further to the right. It would have been interesting to hear Clinton come out against abortion, and for a flat tax.

Pataki will read at the official ceremony the next day. Were they going to explain how the used our tax dollars to pay for the 9/11 attacks? Nahhh. They're too busy stealing Republican speeches. It doesn't matter how old. Can't wait 'til they start using Reagan's speeches.

A Democratic strategist suggested the party may be concerned that the official commemoration will put the spotlight on Mayor Bloomberg, Pataki, President Bush and former Mayor Rudy Giuliani - all Republicans. Yeah, people who actually did something.
Why not just change the demographics of the people involved for perception purposes, like with the statue of the flag-raisers?

A Democratic strategist suggested the party may be concerned that the official commemoration will put the spotlight on Mayor Bloomberg, Pataki, President Bush and former Mayor Rudy Giuliani - all Republicans. Let's see...
The current Mayor and the Mayor at the time of the attack.
The current Governor and the Governor at the time of the attack.
The current President and the President at the time of the attack...
*&^^&#*& Republican opportunists...
