For at least 10 years, maybe even 20.
With all the hoopla over diversity these days, and how devine it is described by the MSM, it strikes me as very strange for our school officials (mostly liberal) to medicate kids whose behavior is somewhat out of the norm. To the extent possible, any abnormality in behavior warrants heavy medication according to them.
This wreaks of an oppresive society, not an enlightened one. It is also very trouble that young boys are the main targets of medication. Recent trends have seen girls medicated more frequently, which isn't a goal that I see as a remedy for this.
Children are children. They grow at different rates both physically and mentally. Should we give growth hormone to boys who haven't hit their growth spurt by 14? That's essentially what we are doing on the mental side of the equasion.
All this being said, I did converse here with a man who had been medicated during his youth. He seemed to think it was a great help to him. I wondered if he was talked into that, or if it was truly a valid perception. He was pretty sure his life was improved by the medication.
It's hard for lay people to know for sure. Physicians do have access to the studies. It's up to them to interpret the data, but I cannot imagine that significant numbers of children need to be placed on class ii medications or their lives will be significantly depreciated.
