Mississippi has been, and continues to be, last in many important areas. However, as evidenced by this article and by our publicity hound AG's actions against big tobacco, Mississippi is showing an affinity to be near the head of the line at the federal teat or anywhere else from which it can coerce or blackmail a free dollar. I guess it beats expecting the terminally democratic legislature to show any signs of fiscal responsibility.

Fordice is going to be a one-time phenomenon for mississippi, I'm afraid. A governor who doesn't give a fig about the press, publicity, and votes against taxes is kinda unique.
