Agreed. But it seems that diplomacy is generally conducted at an imperceptable level, except for the pronouncements that are intended to pacify the masses. I think that the message you mentioned has already been delivered loud and clear behind the scenes. The Saudi's have few friends since Sir Lawrence left town, excepting the corporate oil interests. And they really don't care who runs the country, as long as the oil flows west.

Also agreed. However, the Saudi family may be our best choice of useful idiots at this perilous time. It could be worse, what with all those Islamic fanatics there beaming with pride. And they are. Trust me on this one.

If there isn't a lot going on behind the scenes, there damn well should be.

They got to destroy the entire WTC and come out smelling like roses. This shall not stand.
