But we can't discuss Islam when it does this? I think we only criticized Islam when it was clear that a religious war was declared on us. Before Sept 11 there wasn't much being said about Islamics on FR, I think when we're attacked we do need to look at the philosophy behind our enemies.
We discuss it all the time. However, too often I'm afraid that we devolve any such discussion to the point where we're no better than they are (CASE IN POINT: The oft-posted graphic showing the airliner plunging into the crowd at Mecca during the pilgrimmage. I mean, this is SERIOUS STUFF; that kind of thing ain't funny).
I'd LIKE to think that the reason it was an outrageous crime for the Jihadistanis to do what they did is because it was so far outside the bounds of civilized behavior.
Then I see people here advocating we "get even" with them for killing OUR "innocents" by slaughtering THEIR "innocents."
To me it's just madness.
