I think you are right in saying that the attitude you discribe will eventually hurt Free Republic. If this site is indeed solely for the glorification of our President, then I think it should be stated as such.
I was reading the other day about quotes by Sean Hannity about Free Republic, and I couldnt believe the way that Conservatives were attacking a fellow Conservative like Hannity in a way that can only hurt the reputation of members here.
I must say that I have never seen Liberals attack each other so openly and publically for daring to disagree in the way that I have seen here. I come here for news that I might not find elsewhere, and it would be a shame if this web site were discredited as a place for like-minds only.
Then would you guys please explain to me why I, a Bush supporter, seem to spend a lot of my time feeling like I have to defend him here? Why I cringe when I log in, because thread after thread seems to be critical of him, and few threads seem to give him credit for ANY of the good he's done?
On second thought, don't explain it to me here. Please tell me elsewhere - because I don't want to contribute any more to this thread going off-topic...but please see the obvious - that people who dislike Bush are every bit as "allowed" here as those who support him.
