China has one of the longest continuous civilizations in the world. For much of their existence, they founded their principles in Confucianism (sp?) -- which is simply an atehistic (in that there are no gods) philosophy. In general the philosophy boils down to "live and let live" without all the problems inherent in the "my religion is better than your religion so I will kill you, you horrid infidel" societies endemic to the West.
