I didn't want a large passle of children and neither did / do many others. Money, though sometimes a consideration, had nothing at all to do with my decission . Neither had it / has it on other peoples' views of how large / small a family they want to / do have. Only someone living an isolated life, could make the kinds of statements, that you continually make. There is no, zero, zilch proof that people would have more kids, IF only taxes were lower. OTOH, there is a massive amount of proof, that the more educated and wealthier people become, the fewer children they have. These studies, FYI, have been done for about 100 years.
I see that you're back on Latin and South American, as well as Asian immigration. You have stated that you want ALL immigration should be stopped. That includes Caucazoids ( whites, to you ) and some Latin & South Americans ARE not only white, but what you would think of as " EUROPEAN " , as well. Now, what about the white farmers in Zimbabwe, or the Afrikaners in South Africa or the Irish ( BTW, ILLEGAL Irish immigrants have flooded the USA !), or Germans, or others, who would meet your racial criteria ?
We'll see how things play out in the long run. However, I don't think that history is on your side, and you're forgetting that past immigration waves came from Europe, into a dominant European cultural population. You don't have anything to go by with today's current wave to compare to a success story.
The first point that sticks to my mind, is the issue of race. Mind you, I will be flamed and called names for simply posting something that I believe to be a factor that needs to be considered when discussing the issue of immigration in North America.
Western History is the history of one people being occupied and ruled by another (mind you, I am the latter, not the former). There is no history to this hemisphere before the arrival of the first Euro, be it Eric the Red, or Columbus.
Caucasians are not indigenous to this hemisphere, and that's a simple fact. When the first Europeans arrived here, a race of people were occupying the land, and living their lives as they saw fit to live them.
We (Europeans) knew that we were stronger, deemed them to be savages, and excused any actions we needed to take, in order to civilize them...even if it killed them.
We did exceptionally well in Cuba, we didn't let one single native inhabitant survive their initiation into civilization.
Here, we did a good job of marginalizing them by restricting them to reservations and such.
But the Spaniards didn't do as thorough a job south of the border. There may have simply been too many natives, too many mountains, and too many jungles to cover.
You see, I think one day, sooner or later, the native inhabitants of this hemisphere may simply start to ignore the ruling Euro-Americans, and move about as free as they used to before we got here.
