>>But suspension without pay?<<

>>He's lucky he didn't get fired. People with such disrespect for private property shouldn't be in a position of authority anyway; we have enough of them in Congress.<<

Indeed. But. . .what about all that damage done at the White House by all those departing Clintoon adminstration toads. They caused real damage and even stole from the White House and the OEB, but they get away with no sanction or cost at all. The case was closed quietly.

And of course, Air Force One was stripped of anything with a logo and not bolted onto the aircraft---yet, no one punished or fined. Just swept away.

These is something terribly wrong here, terribly wrong.

Sure the SS agent did wrong, but heck, a fine of that magnitude is a message to the agent that your career of over and to hit the bricks. THAT is over-reaction, not justice, and I also suspect, a pre-emptive kow-tow to show we are intolerant of intolerance--with elections coming up you don't want to be portrayed as racist.

The punishment does not fit the crime in this case. No way.

Reasonable punishment: a letter of sanction in his jacket and a fine of, say, two-weeks pay. Message sent and the guys career is not shot to hell.

The Clintonoids (and Clinton himself) got let off easy, but I don't believe that's any reason why this agent should get off leniently. I appreciate your point, I just think that _both_ parties should have been punished severely.

This guy has opened the way for the defense to claim that there was at least one agent on scene whose hatred of Muslims demostrably outweight his respect for the suspect's rights or the rule of law. That could easily open up grounds for 'reasonable doubt'.

This guy shouldn't be suspended--he should be outright fired and charged with evidence tampering, especially if his malfeasance allows Shishani to walk. Further, he should be fired not only as punishment, but also because his demonstrable lack of judgement in this case would jeopardize the value of evidence gathered in future cases.
