Needless to say, everything in the historical record (so beloved by that IDIOT WhiskeyPapa)appears to me to contradict your characterizarion.

I don't typically say much about Davis. The record speaks for itself.

I do like what Sam Houston is credited as saying about him:

"Jefferson Davis is as cold as a lizard and ambitious as Lucifer."

I will point out also for your consideration what Davis said in his memiors about President Lincoln: "He was without malignity to the southern people." And I will further note what William (no relation) Davis says in his new book was J. Davis' reaction to the news of Lincoln's death: "There are a great many men I would have seen killed first."

You need to re-think Lincoln. He was a great and good-hearted man.

The only credit I can give to Lincoln, is that he did wish for a short and fruitful reconstruction, WITHOUT malice and revenge.......

You certainly have a right to your opinion that Lincoln was a a great and good-hearted man; but opinion is all it is, it is not "truth" however much you may be convinced that it is. I have given some thought to the question of Lincoln. In reality I don't believe he was consciously evil, but I do believe his actions caused much more harm than good. In the absence of new revelations I don't find "retinking" necessary and I will continue to hold to my present opinion.
