Is there presently "war fever"? I would say no

Absolutely correct. There is no sign. But remember that there was no war fever in Berlin when Barbarossa jumped off. People looked up from their coffeecakes and said, "Yeah, so?" It was a couple of years later before signs of alarm began to be noticeable in Berlin.

It didn't take two years for the Nazis to realize that lots of their troops were not ever coming home. The first signs of serious Russian resistance were the thousands of German casualties. The Nazis tried to hide the numbers, but people knew that things were going wrong in Russia.

I met a guy who had been in the Africa Corps and later sent to Russia with his tank regiment. He was wounded twice and nearly killed. His take on the huge tank battles against the Ruskies was that the Nazis were annihilated by the thousands.

There is no sign.

no sign that we can see. i did read where the military has asked several companies that make smart bombs to work overtime so that the stockpile would be back to where it was before the afghanistan coup. i suspect that with modern warfare the signs are a bit different than they have been.
