DAMN IT - I don't care whether it's old or not - STOP PRINTING THIS STUFF!!!

This is insanity. Every time I turn around, someone is printing more information that is supposed to be confidential! If it's not treason, it's certainly stupid!

Those inflatable planes look pretty real from space.

Saddam already has access to commercially available satellite imagery through some proxy or other. This stuff isn't going to add anything to his capabilities, but it might just confuse his intel analysis.

As for the planes, I doubt that these are "inflatables" but they might be template outlines dropped on the runway to make it look like the strip is occupied. Notice that these are overhead shots instead of obliques (where you get a sense of 3 dimensions). Move the templates around a couple times a day to spoof a crude imaging satellite. No problem.

IMO, this story is a plant. The NYPost is exactly the kind of news outlet that you'd expect to grab this story & run with it. Does anybody seriously think that the NYPost actually dug this stuff up? No. It was handed to them on a silver platter -- probably with written copy, as well.

BTW, when things start to come to a head, Saddam's intel sources are going to dry-up. Those commercial satellite companies are going to turn-off the spigot unless they want to get their wings clipped.

You can be certain the enemy know all of this and a whole lot more about what we are doing in the region. the people in the dark are us not them so it is hard to see how this could be treason. I've traveled extensively in trouble spots and have seen things that would usually not make the us papers and I've come to conclude that most things the government marks "secret" are meant to be kept from the US public since the bad guys already have a good handle on what we are up to.

This administration has been very honest and upfront, even about the things we don't like. When the Pesident and Rumsfield, and Powell, say there are no plans on the desk for an attack on Iraq, I think we should believe them.

There are no plans on the Presidents desk for an attack on Iraq, I'm wondering if a cooling off period of several months will be followed by diplomatic negotiations. Saddam will be bullied into letting U.N. inspectors, inspect a camel patty packing facility, Iraq will be given a clean bill of health. Life will go on until the next thing.

"Hm-m... How about this plan: one nuke on Bagdad, another on Basra, and the game is over. Worked for Japan like a charm..."

Yeah. And a few for Mecca, Medina, Riyadh...

"Is anyone on this thread aware of preparations by China for an attack on Taiwan the day we move on Iraq? Or, for that matter, N. Korea v. S. Korea on the same day? It is possible"

I have mentioned the possibility several times here. In particular it was Clinton's gutting of our military which ensured that this scenario can occur. They all watch CNN. They know when our military is over-extended. No need for a conspiracy.

That is why a short, quick, surprise decapitation a la nuke is the best option for Iraq and the rest of the enemy nations in the region.

Verify there are WMD at certain locations and use small tactical warheads, probably in the .5 to 10 kt range.

What would be funnier is if Saddam launched a series of Scud missile attacks and disintegrated this airfield. Not that I would support this action, of course, but BOY what a ---- in the punchbowl that would be!

I say quit worrying about neighboring bases, canteens, go-go dancers, and leather sofas.....fuel up the KC-135's and start pounding, by George.

>>worked for Japan like a charm...<<

After four and a half years of bloody warfare which resulted in the decimation of their fighting forces, sinking of their Navy, destruction of their homeland and starvation of their populace.

Agree, if saber rattling keeps the presstitutes busy and Saddam & Bin Dead in their gopher holes then the demonrats lose free sound bite time for the coming election IMHO.

Official Secret Reports of "War Plans" will keep the chicken little crowd peckin away nicely and the DOD will get it's budget approved by asking for 3 times as much as it needs, getting it cut in half by a "responsible" bunch of polidiots and congresscritters, and ending up ahead of the money game anyway.

All this while the Martha Stewart CEO types keep "cooking " the books and animals steal our children here at home. The home we used to be able to defend with a firearm.

But hey don't get me wrong, with all it's faults I still love this country. I just stick around to see whats gonna amaze me next :o) < / RANT >

Stay Safe !

Given that it is the anniversary of Hiroshima, taking out Baghdad today would send an unmistakable message to the entire world -- mess with the US and your children's graves will glow in the dark for 1,000 years!

LOL, that's what I was thinking. Leftovers from Korea? To me, the profile resembles the F-86 Sabre more than anything flying today.

It is possible, since we could never defend Taiwan against an attack by the mainland

Where on earth did you get THAT idea?

Define attack? I hope you don't mean invasion...China is completely incapable of invading Taiwan even if the US doesn't lift a finger to help Taiwan.

>>It built a 13,000-foot runway to handle heavy bombers

In the US bomber inventory, only a loaded B-52 needs 13,000 foot runways.

I have a tiny bit more confidence in D.C., if only because D.C. is prime target #1 for terrorist, and politicians live there.

Personally I have found that all politicans tip their hand, and now that we are clear of any arms treaties, the wish list for new toys has been let out of the bag. Iraq better worry. If we do eventually go into Iraq, with our new toys Iraq will experience the fastest defeat in history, they will look back on the good old days when they were alive to crawl out from under rocks and hug the ankles of an American Military man. The Middle East doesn't want any of us, they better snap to that fact fast. They may have given us a 911, but we have a 411 for them.
