We also seem to be woefully short of allies (France, Germany, England, etc.) Tough to have a world war without allies...

It sure is tough to have no allies, though I'd disagree with you about England. Also, we'll have Israel, no slouch when it comes to heavy combat, on our side if the war involves the Mideast (a virtual certainty). But I trust that the rest will realize that it is tougher to go it alone if we go down the tubes. You see, the Euroweenies know that, when push comes to shove, we'll be in their corner. Even they can reason that if we go down the tubes in, say 2015, then when the nasty SOB's that took us down get hungry again, they'll be on the chopping block around 2020 or 2025.

Of course, some of the Euroweenies may be considering that anyone who tries to take on the US will, even if successful, have an overabundance of radioactive slag all over their territory. As such, who will be left to pick up the pieces? Euroweenies! To be serious, I don't think that many European leaders believe or hope for this.

As I said above, they'll be on our side when the going gets really tough (like taking on China and the Arab World simultaneously). If not, it will be tougher but we'll still prevail. And we won't be kindly disposed to those supposed allies who didn't lift a finger to help (esp. after fighting 2 world wars and a cold war for them).
