This stuff is getting very tired. The President is less conservative than most of us would like, and is more conservative than many of us expected. He has and will make proposals that many will think not conservative, and has and will make proposals that most of us will be proud to support.

I will support him when I agree with him, oppose him when I disagree, and tend to give him the benefit of the doubt when I have doubt. I fully expect to give him my support for the nomination, and enthusiastic support in the general election.

I may be wrong, but I think it is likely that most freepers come down more or less where I am on this subject. A laundry list of the issues where he is less than wholeheartedly conservative will not have the least effect on anyone who has been around for awhile, and has become very repetitious, to put it mildly.

I'm with you Lucius! President Bush is a mixed bag. What are we suppose to do, throw our support behind someone who has no chance to win? I can't stand the atmosphere in this country when a Democrat is in control- the homosexual lobby, the environmentalist, NOW, Jesse Jackson etc. all have more power and exposure. It makes me sick to my stomach the thought of having to go through that again.

He'll have yours and a score of others as well. However, when you look around at the company you'll be keeping, you may be disheartened by those with hands extended, palms facing up.

Not that you or any other freepers depend on govt handouts, or succumb to pre-election promises made in an effort to 'buy' votes, but an awful lot of the electorate do.

Our politicians are a product of the 'Age' we live in. Were I a brewmaster and this 'product' the result of my efforts, I'd have serious reservations about bottling it for consumption--and labeling it "American" to boot.(Born on Date? FDR?)

Some voters have acquired an insatiable thirst for principled candidates and detest having to enter a voting booth holding their noses. Clothespin anyone?

"The President is less conservative than most of us would like, and is more conservative than many of us expected."

The first part of your posit is an understatement, and the last part rings hollow if we are to examine the evidence.

The truth of the matter is Dubya is now impersonating a moderate Democrat as President, while having enacted the policies of...A Moderate Democrat.

Sorry people -- George W. Bush is NOT very conservative at all.
