That would pay for a lot of marines.
I agree with the poster who said it's about freedom, not money. It's the principle of taking so much money from someone just because they have more. These former American Citizens were treated far worse by their government than most citizens. They get screwed to the wall because they are rich. Not equal justice under the law in my book. They don't owe me anything.
Our Declaration of Independence acknowledges the right of the people to throw out a repressive government. These folks are just ahead of the curve.
That would pay for a lot of marines.
By that logic, we're obligated to protect anyone who's ever paid anything in taxes, whether there's an ongoing relationship or not. Like the question asks, "What have you done for me lately?" - you want protection next year, then cough it up next year ;)
They don't owe me anything.
I agree - I would never claim otherwise. My only point is that we no longer owe them anything either. So long as they don't try to have it both ways, where they get the benefits of being American without the any of the costs, I have no issue with what the tax expats have done....
And dope smoking draft dodgers who fled to Canada during the Vietnam War were the true patriots, not those who served and died for our nation. </sarcasm>
You apologists for these tax deadbeats make me puke.
