This cycle has been going on since WW II, and is nothing new. Brooks simply updated it with the new store names and techo jargon. Some Sprinkler Cities go upper middle class with time, some downscale. What the author missed is that a lot of this has to do with parents with young children that want to be near a lot of other families with same of the same socio economic class, with the housing affordable. That means moving to new exurbs. Then everyone ages together, and the evolution begins.
