Did anyone catch last night's episode of The Rerun Show?

NBC has a new show, titled The Rerun Show, that is a parody of old television programs of the past. I thought that this sounded like it might be funny, if handled correctly. I came across it last night and saw a fairly funny skit of Different Strokes. Then, the show featured a parody of The Partridge Family in which Partridge brother Keith has an INCESTUOUS relationship with sister Laurie. Mind you, this was not presented as actor David Cassidy having an affair with actress Susan Dey. This was presented as Keith hooking up with Laurie to make his girlfriend jealous. Also, the two children of the show, witnessing brother and sister making out, decide to start making out on their own. Of course, these were adult actors in the roles but, this was shown in primetime. I turned the channel immediately.

Rerun! Now "What's Happenin'" was good television. I'd love to find the show in syndication.

They'll probably start releasing each season on DVD, if current trends are any indication. They just released the first season of Sanford and Son on DVD for only $20. Definitely the best money you'll ever spend :)

I guess I missed that.
I suppose they were just trying to do it (make it more acceptable to have 2nd and 3rd marriages) in a more subtle manner.
As a young child of divorced parents, that was certainly my take on it.

I hate to be the one to tell you this but, Dad Brady was a widower and Mom Brady was a widow. Neither one were divorced.According to Florence Henderson, Mom Brady was actually TV's first divorced mom. They just let viewers assume she was a widow because TV wasn't ready for a divorced mom. I don't know if this "counts" or not, since it was pretty much an insider secret! LOL
As for the rerun show, I won't bother to watch it again. But I admit the guy who portrayed Keith Partidge was very good and funny, (constantly tossing his hair and admiring himself in the mirror.) And the guy (yes, guy) who portrayed Edna Garrett was also hilarious. The show could have been good if it hadn't descended into sleaze.

LOL! I hadn't heard that about what Florence Henderson said. She seems to be a little on the nutcase end of the spectrum. I know that whole cast likes to milk that show for all they can get out of it. I am tired of hearing about the Brady Bunch. You are correct about the Edna Garrett character. He had her dead-on! Like you said, too bad they had to ruin it with the juvenile sleaze.
If I had been writing the script, I would have had The Partridges, down on their luck, approaching MTV for their own reality show. However, they would use the words "fudge" in place of the Ozzie version. Then, the powers-that-be at MTV would come to them and tell them they were just too nice for MTV and the deal is off. It would be a sly commentary as well as comedy.

I have always wondered why they did a lot of crazy stuff on television. At that time, on The Lucy Show, Vivian Vance's character was divorced and had a child, and she was always looking for a new man. Also, concerning the Barbara Eden not showing her navel on I Dream of Jeannie, they would have female extras in bikinis on there, showing their navels. What was the big deal?

LOVE your idea about the Partridge reality show! You oughta write it!

I thought the Partridge skit was a little over the top, to say the least. But no more than the site of a grisled, unshaven, mini-Danny!I thought that Danny Bonaduce doing a parody of his old character was pretty funny; that and the swishing hair.

LOL! Thanks. I wouldn't know where to begin to write a skit like that.

Funny you mention I Dream of Jeannie, I watched the show this morning and did not notice the navel thing.
I will pay a little closer attention next time.
BTW Barbara Eden was a good looking lady.
I saw Marlo Thomas on Fox the other morning, if she pulls that skin any tighter she will have a goatee. ;^)

I think I saw that! I was sitting there trying to decide if that was indeed Marlo. Funny that her hubby has his own show on PMSNBC and she was on Fox, home of O'Reilly.
To: stevio
Yep. They aren't satisfied with presenting teens having sex at the drop of a hat, having homosexual sex, and with adults, they have to carve out a whole new niche of depravity.
To: Paul Atreides
She was plugging a book or some other liberal nonsense.
E.D. don't remember her last name, on the Fox crew is a pretty cool lady. Very attractive, excellent sense of humor.

LOL! All William Frawley got was Fred McMurray and his three sons. Which reminds me; wasn't it odd how, when the family moved to California, they never saw the oldest son anymore? It's like Richie's older brother on Happy Days.

Same here. Flipping the other night it's replayed on another network (can't remember which one). Saw the Different Strokes part and didn't even bother watching the Partridge Family one. This is one sick show
To: dtel
Growing up, I had always thought that Marlo was a very pretty lady...until I heard the feminazi bile spewing from her mouth.

You didn't miss anything. Mom Partridge walks in on brother and sister in bed, and doesn't have a problem with it. Sister Laurie grabs brother Keith's crotch, in order to make his girlfriend jealous. They make out, inspiring the toddler brother and sister to do the same. It was disgusting. I turned the channel before the skit was even finished.
