Words of Wisdom from George P.:
George P. Bush Files Qualifying Paperwork for Bush-Brogan Campaign
George P. Bush, Governor Bushs oldest son, travelled to Tallahassee to file qualifying paperwork on behalf of the Bush-Brogan 2002 campaign on Tuesday.
After filing the papers, George gave the following remarks:
Many of you remember three and half years ago, on a very cold January day, when my father stood on the grounds of our state capital and accepted the oath of office as Governor. That was the day that my fathers hour of leadership had arrived.
During the past three and half years he has worked relentlessly to build a better Florida. Thanks to the hard work of Floridians in and out of government from all over our state, much progress has been made towards that better Florida, and my father has shown that he was prepared to answer that leadership call and join the ranks of those who have held Floridas highest office.
Today, by filing the paperwork that officially qualifies my father as a candidate for re-election, I am proud and honored to help him take the next step in continuing to build the best Florida possible.
However, for me, today is not about politics, partisanship or even about a new government program or policy.
More than anything else, I am here because of passion. My dads passion to serve the people of Florida. My dads unyielding desire to build a better state, and to unite our diverse people around common goals.
My father is different than other candidates running for office. His passion is not rooted in partisanship or the typical political quest for power, instead it is rooted in his love for Florida and its people. A commitment to all the people of this state, and a unique compassion to create hope and opportunity for those typically without a voice that reaches the halls of this great capital in Tallahassee.
I have seen this same character and passion in Jeb Bush for all 26 years of my life but I have seen it within him not as Governor but displayed within him as my father. A father who was proud to raise a young family, start a business and make a life in Florida. A father who now is making a difference as Governor.
I salute my fathers passion, his love for our family and state, and his leadership as Governor. I now look forward to joining with my father and all Floridians, to continue on the path to a Florida that is better than it has ever been before.
Thank you.
How about that? FV
