Straight out of the HCI handbook....
I must admit that I am a little bit surprised that you don't know about drop-tests of handguns for all handguns that are imported, and all handguns sold in California -- and even where this practice is not required by law, that most manufacturers perform rigorous drop-testing. Handguns are routinely evaluated by firearms magazines (I am friends with Dean Spier, who writes for these sort of magazines, for example) and if the mag gives a gun a thumbsdown rating on safety, sales are very seriously compromised.
As a result, many manufacturers are forced, by the market, to have good internal safety measures. Glock, for example, has a three-part internal safety mechanism meant to prevent all but intentional firings.
So, do you often rely on the Simpsons for inspiration?
Better to rely on training than to have to try to extract a dummy round from a weapon in the dead of night.
