Sorry I missed this one.....busy at work. I have a keypad safe next to my bed. As soon as my toddlers reach proper age, they will be taught as I was not to fool with daddy's handguns and they will first get proper instruction and respect for long arms....at about the same age as you suggested. Handgun instruction will come a bit later. I also keep other protection devices in very high places out of their reach....just in case.

The main issue I have with this safety device is that if mistakenly fired in a WTSHTF situation then the weapon is useless....plus I can envison a law whereby this bullet will be required....another backdoor entry into gun confiscation. We also have a big safe/cabinet locked as well which I can open quickly if the situation requires heavy equipment.

Mean Dog and easy access handgun safe close by sounds prudent enough to me.

I don't believe you would need this any way. You are aware that kids are curious and have the safe. Sounds like you have things under controll. Still do some reseach on accidental shooting. Maybe you can come up with a better idea.

The surprising thing is how all these young children get ahold of a gun. First thing they do is pull the trigger. About a month ago a cop was shot dead by his THREE YEAR OLD!! I belive in proper gun education but at three? If you've been reading these posts I have been catching it from every side.

That is eactly what I need to know. When I invented this I tried to think of something that I would want to use and this is it. If the gun is anywhere near your person you don't need this but if you store a gun away put one in the chamber and if anyone pulls the trigger you have just saved a life and 20 years in jail.
