WASHINGTON, July 30 (UPI) -- Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., introduced legislation Tuesday to close major gaps in the federal firearms background check system that in a 30-month period allowed some 10,000 felons and others prohibited from gun ownership to obtain weapons.

Detroit has had a lot of children killed recently by stray gunfire in drug-related shootings. It's being called "gun violence". After a high-profile conference of "community leaders", politicians, and gun-grabbers, the Detroit police announced a new policy. In some precincts, police would "ask the felons we know who carry guns not to carry them any more".
You mean these people are known felons, they carry guns, and the police are going to track them down and ask them not to use guns? Whatever happened to throwing their ass back in jail?
That creatures like this can get elected to such positions of power within our federal government is an irrefutable indication that our Republic is slowly dying.
Neither do I, but why should I have to submit to a background check to prove that I'm NOT one of them, when I'm NOT responsible for what they've done?
Why, when I go to purchase a firearm, am I assumed to be guilty of being a member of the esteemed community who make up your above list, and required to prove that I am NOT thus guilty?
What did *I* do, what crime have *I* committed, that warrants my being encumbered and having my rights **INFRINGED** in this manner?
Hmmmmmm????????
Whatever happened to the death penalty for psychos like these?
McCain - Rino gun grabber
Schumer - Putzhead gun grabber
Kennedy - Murdering gun grabber
Craig - ???? Where do you stand larry?
Next to the traiter, the putz, and the killer?
A) The feds have no business with any of this at all. None. Either you support and defend the BoR or you don't.
B) Every one of those classes of people that you wish to deny rights to also has family that will be denied the same rights. That's right, denied persons cannot even have access to guns. That can effectively disarm entire households.
Surely you're aware that the VA has been perusing medical records and sending the ATF names of soldiers treated for PTSD, right? You ok with that?
I'm glad to hear you had a positive experience there. I've wondered about them since we visit Vegas about twice a year.
I've been a bit put off by their website which shows Dr. Ignatz to be a world class self promoter, attaching himself to the reputations of Jeff Cooper, Massad Ayoob, Chuck Taylor, etc. (most of whom are not above a bit of self promotion themselves, but they have the real 'rep'.)
Their 'Free Machinegun Class', which is advertised all over Vegas, strikes me as kind of cheesy and probably does not give a lot of ordinary people 'warm fuzzies' about firearms.
I agree they are not a 'scam', but would advise Ignatz to change his marketing a bit, so it's not all about him. If he's fighting for the cause, more power to him. I just hope he remembers that the cause is more important than he is.
Now can I sell the guns I have to someone else?
Shame on you, you have abused the 'Gun Show Loophole'. Otherwise known as the right of Americans to sell, buy, trade or gift guns to one another. What you did is no different that getting the family shotgun from Grandpa.
Depending on your state of residence you may have violated some state laws. For instance, in NC all transactions involving handguns should involve a permit from the local sheriff.
As for as selling the guns you have, you would be best advised to ship them immediately to a FFL dealer whose name I will email to you. He will turn them over to me, and I will keep them safe.

Self promoter: yes, he is. Remember, he's had to raise a WHOLE lot of money to build the resort and planned community he's building. But yes, I've been there, and sometimes you do feel like you're at some weird revival meeting. A little less polish would be more confidence inspiring, but maybe that's the approach that sells with the money and PR guys. It seems to be working for him.
The school: First rate, but it's designed to bring you back again and again for various courses. That's okay if you like that stuff. I do. But just know that's how it's designed going into it.
His creds: He is a four weapon combat master, so I know he can shoot. I didn't agree with all his opinions (heck, I don't agree with all of anyone's opinions, be they Clint Smith, Massad Ayoob, or Jeff Cooper), but it's not a cult, so you aren't required to.
The Free Machine Gun Class: scoff if you will, and it is Vegas hype all the way, but that sucker got Frontsight more free publicity from the media than the guy could ever have bought. And he never lets anyone in the press interview him unless they take the class, the idea being that they can do an article, but it's darn well going to be an informed one based on real experience.
Yep, this time without the GOP.
All of the above drive me nuts from time to time, but I have to admit they've paid their dues.
Based on your review, I may have to go burn up some of 9mm ammo in one of those Uzis on our next trip.
I think we're in agreement that it is definately not a scam. But, IMHO the place is a bit of a personality cult, that doesn't make it a scam, but does require a certain mindset. To one degree or another I guess we could say the same about Gunsite, Thunder Ranch, etc.
Why would he do that? Then no one would vote for him
