AMSTERDAM, July 30 (IslamOnline) – A population statistic in the Netherlands unveiled that Islam comes on top of the list of religions in the capital Amsterdam. Other religions, such as Christianity (Catholics and Protestants), Judaism and other registered religions come after Islam.

The statistic, published in Dutch Metro daily newspaper Monday, July 29, 2002, stated that 13% of the capital’s population are Muslims. Not more than 10% are Catholics, 5% are followers of the Reformist Protestant Church, whereas only 1% are Jews. Followers of other religions together stand for 12%.

The Dutch paper, printing three million copies and distributed for free, reported that the number of Muslims in the early 20th century was insignificant. Only one Muslim was registered in the Civil Office in Amsterdam. However, in the beginning of the 21st century, Muslims represent the biggest religious mass, numbering, officially, 88,000, out of roughly over 600,000 people of Amsterdam.

There are several elements behind the fast spread of Islam, on top of which the fact that 59% of the Dutch capital’s population do not believe in any religion. Also it was realized that the effect of churches on the Dutch people retreated significantly in general, and in Amsterdam, in particular. That led many churches and Christian religious institutes to close down or sell their property, due to the decrease of attendance.

In return, many researchers believe that Islam is spreading fast, as Muslims are more respectful of Islamic teachings, compared to followers of other religions. Also, Muslims tend to have many children. Islam also attracts new followers, especially from African ethnic minorities or those who have no religion.

Several Dutch Muslims believe the number of Muslims in the capital is even bigger than the officially registered number. Thousands of Muslims live in the capital illegally, due to the tough immigration measures in the Netherlands.

Muslims also believe that they come first, in numbers, not just in Amsterdam, but also in other major Dutch cities, such as Rotterdam, The Hague, and Utrecht. A previous Dutch statistic backed that fact when it said one child among each four children born in the Netherlands is Muslim. This means that half of those under 18 will be Muslims within the coming 20 years.

Amazing statistics. Western culture is going down the tubes, literally, as Muslim women breed themelves into majority.

Early in Afghan campaign, a Brit woman reporter went into Kabul as a friend and was slammed by local women who found out reporter had only one child. They boasted that they will have so many children, they will eventually win evrey war. Apparently it's a more attractive goal than emerging from burqas.

Islam is the first religion in an irreligious country. There's an obvious conclusion there. Christian loss of faith is and will be 'the death of the West'. Sometimes I speculate that the Third Way-ers (Clinton, Blair, et al) have long accepted this trend and are waging an underground war on Islam just as they have done on religious faith in the Europe and North America. After all, Islamic loss of faith will be the planned result of CEDAW and the inherent 'human right' of no-fee abortion.

Well, you know statistics like these are why my husband and I decided to stop after having 3 kids. Statistics say that every 4th child born in the world is Chinese. :)

Nah...the author is measuring a divided Christian faith (all who worship the one true God...add the Jewish) against the various Muslim sects combined. Sounds like a liberal running for office, or a bad math student.

By his own numbers, the Anglican Protestant and Catholic numbers total 15%, add the Jewish and you have 16% Judeo-Christian vs. 13% Muslims...and this doesn't include the other Christian denominations. IOW, there are fewer Allah-worshippers than there are God worshippers in the Netherlands. Nice try, naughty lie.

The story is true an many accounts, they get more kids, Africans (and also Surinamers) who convert.

Also in jails they are a majority (more than 70% of the people in jail are immigrants, mostly muslims), as well in the crime statistics like armed mugging (police in Rotterdam concluded 99% of the 1.500 cases were comitted by immigrants, 38% were Moroccans, 16% Turks/Albanians), group-rapings (a staggering 100% of all group-rapes is committed by muslims after police in Rotterdam investigated it) and of course drugs-trade. Mainly Kurds and Turks in that area, also these two groups contibute to half of all the murders! Albanian muslims are also on the move in the world of prositution and arms-trade.

Also 40% of The Hague is immigrant (Turkish, Moroccan and Africans) of which 60% are unemployed.

How come they don't mention all this?
