As for your idea that outreach would help, I disagree. Immigrants from non-Communist countries are natural Democrats. They are poor and are not part of the general culture and traditions of this country. Moreover, Latinos were taught to resent the Us in their native countries, giving even more fodder to the leftist demagogues in the US.

The best way to get Hispanic votes is to promote assimilation. To do so, we need to reduce teh flow of immigrants, make learning english mandatory, end state subsidies for racial speratist program, and promote assimilation programs.
Anything short of this, as we can kiss this country good bye within 2 generations.

Hmm. Two things caught my eye about this author's claims. First, we're going to be overrun by illegal immigrants who will vote for Democrats. They can vote ( legally )? He also wonders what's wrong with getting young people learn Spanish. What's wrong with "getting" young Hispanics to learn English? I'm sure he'll protest that violates their culture.

You are most wrong. I do advocate teaching young hispanics English. The system is leaning the other way. The responses have been predictable. Adaptation and adjustment to a program of trying to reach this population and change their point of view is essential. Making them assimilate, learn English, etc. is NOT going to happen. Write it down and see if it doesn't come true. Hating me won't change one iota of what I've written.

Exactly. And, when concepts are explained to them, they generally see the need to stay away from the Democrat party. However, getting Republicans in general to see this is the hard part. Lots of invective and hatred. Apalling.

You have validated what I had to say. I have been a lifelong Republican, have spoken up for conservative causes, have lost jobs because of same. And, you have the audacity and gall to respond to me like this? The very attitude illustrated by your post and others like it will be your own undoing. I merely proposed to teach this group to think differently...at least try. And, you respond with aggression toward someone of your own party stating an opinion with which you don't agree? How foolish.

Try posting an intellectual rebuttal to the statement instead of the way you have chosen to respond. I am not going to lower myself to discussion at your level.

The individuals who speak Spanish, be they hispanic, white, black, etc. and share the same conservative, less-government, lower-taxes, work-for-what-you-get philosophy are frustrated by party regulars--who will not do what has to be done to prevent a PRI (Partido Revolucionario Institucional) style takeover of government by the Democrat party.

Though you'd think this group would be offended to have that message communicated in other than English.

Most certainly do. Have always advocated that here and elsewhere. However, it is NOT being done. They have children at an incredible rate. Why not try to reach them and help at least their children be productive citizens in society? If you write off the whole group, the vote will bite you in the butt later.

Conservatives see groups and not classes. While leftists divide us all by money and ethnic ranks, conservatives see family, local community, trade/profession, church, and regional heritage as the real common ground. We need to reach out the first generation immigrants whose families came from Mexico< for example, rather than to Hispanics. Certainly those that can speak the langauge of common experience are at least as important as being able to speak spanish.

It is my experience that if you take the ten conservative principles (see my home page) and ask the average mexican immigrant if those sound right to him, he will say he likes them.
