Steel Import Tariff ---- Big mistake. Shows fear of confidence in free trade

Free trade yes, except when it destroys our defenses. We must rely on no other sovereign country but ourselves to maintain such a vital industry. If the steel industry in the U.S. was in danger of closing down, then steel tariffs are a good thing.

I don't believe that the tariff actions on steel by Bush had primarily to do with defense. I think they had to do with re-election. If I am right, then Bush was wrong.
