Yes, I saw it. He said that the miners were at one point trapped with rising water and had to press their faces against the roof of the mine in order to gasp for air. He also said that they wrote good-bye notes to their families on scraps from a cardboard box, because they thought that the recuers had given up on finding them.

This was later corroborated by the young miner who gave the press conference.

Amazing! They even tied themselves together because they were either going to live or die together. I want to hear more of their stories . . . I'm sure they'll be on the talk show circuit soon!

BTW, I've read various accounts that said that they were continually in 3-4 feet of water, but I think Mayhugh said that they had a "dry" patch (i.e. it was wet, but they could sit down). Have you heard anything about that?

Nope, he didn't say they thought they were going to die because the rescuers had given up..........they thought they were going to die when the water left them only with their noses and chins out of the water.

Miners know that they won't be left in the mine without EVERYTHING possible done to resuce them.
