Hi Jen!...I'm enjoying Sunday..how bout you?
To: MistyCA
Misty,
Spray the entire area with Engine Degreaser, then hose it off after a few minutes. Park the RV so that compartment is in the sun to dry completely before starting it again.
NOTE: Be sure no water gets inside the generator engine! AND check the oil level in the Gen.

Yes, Put a bag over the carb. (knew I forgot to say sumthin' important)

You've answered your own questions!
Cover the spark plugs, carbeurator, and air filter...zip-lock bags should work...then just hose the heck out of it!
Does that sound about right, RA?

Mr. Magoo, just for reference, it is an Onan 4.0 generator.

Sounds great except I would use a degreaser (spray can of the stuff will work fine). Not too worried about the plugs. Once they dry they should be fine. Just wipe them off good to ensure the degreaser is off them completely. Not a dif job, just a pain. But on the bright side, the generator will be clean :-)

I am ready :-)

To avoid getting water inside would it be like when you steam clean a car engine and cover the plugs and carburetor?

If you put a Baggie over the carb. with a rubber band to hold it, and make sure the oil cap is on tight you should keep the water out of the engine sise of it.
The generator side has air vent holes all over. That should not be a problem as long as you let it dry all the way before starting it. That is why I said to park it so the sun can hit it.

OK....there are also things like the on/off switch and fuses. That area was also drenched but I have pretty much cleaned it off with towels. There are also things like brushes in the generator.
