"It was this object, this light-blue object, traveling at a phenomenal rate of speed," Rogers said. "This Air Force jet was right behind it, chasing it, but the object was just leaving him in the dust. I told my neighbor, 'I think those jets are chasing a UFO.' "

Military officials confirm that two F-16 jets from Andrews Air Force Base were scrambled early yesterday after radar detected an unknown aircraft in area airspace. But they scoff at the idea that the jets were chasing a strange and speedy, blue unidentified flying object.

As of right now, this is, without argument, a UFO.

It can't be.
UFO ain't blue

>>Okay, let me again try and explain a few things.
First off, we do not fly our special toys over civilian airspace, especially airspace like the Wash DC area. Not going to happen.

Now, as far as the event. The radar returns can be explained in many ways, as the USAF spokesman stated.<<

>>Is this a first draft of the "official" government explanation of what happened in the Washington DC area?<<

See, I KNEW someone would think I was MIB.

On occasion, "toys" have over-flown civilian areas around D.C., to make a point.

You are correct, the F-15 is the "top gun;" details remain classified.

What was seen, was probably an "ion wave" or "ion hole;" details remain classified.

Some things are "virtually" possible.

A bureaucracy is a fixed thing, generally, like the Maginot Line.

In St. Louis county, about fifteen years ago, my daughter (young kid at the time) came running to me from her room saying there was a huge ufo outside her window, some distance up. I went to look and saw nothing. "Relax, honey," I told her. "If it was a real ufo, the jets would scramble after it." As I finished saying that, the F15s from around the airport went directly over head in the direction she said it went. Spooky, to me.

And a couple of cattle ranchers here have had mutilations, which are eerie, investigated. No tire tracks, no blood, no helicopters, no fence down, no gate unlocked, nothing but dry, bloodless cattle with razor-sharp cuts around where organs used to be...they were flat, juiceless, and no crows feasting on them...that's also way strange...

Thanks for your support. . .but. . .

Classified aircraft have not. We do not risk compromising our very sensitive toys by flying them over hi-viz locations, especially the post 9-11 Wash DC area. Makes no sense. None whatsoever.

I'd take the F-15 to be the quickest, overall.

Quicker than the F-22?

These aren't the first "UFOs" reported over Washington, DC. As I recall in the late 40s or early 50s there was a rash of UFOs sighted on radar over DC. I believe that fighters were also scrambled then.

Keep your powder dry and your eye on your daughters.

See, I KNEW someone would think I was MIB. :-)

LOL!

I wasn't meaning to diss you or anything.

The explanation you offer is completely plausible.

It's just that the way you explained the whole thing sounded awfully like "an official government explanation of what really happened."

For Renny Rogers, it was strange enough that military jets were flying low over his home in Waldorf in the middle of the night.

Why? Andrews Air Force Base is on the order of 5-10 miles up the road from Waldorf.
