"If a priest CAN be celibate, then who would know or care what his orientation is?"

You: Then he isn't gay. Gay means active lifestyle.

You're right. The Catholic church teaches that it's okay to be gay IF you remain celibate. Of course this is NOT Christian. Catholic dont' believe that through God ALL things are possible. Catholics don't believe that. It's redefined compassion.

If you look at the Exodus website that helps gays straighten themselves out, you'll see that it is ONLY the Catholics that find being gay acceptable. Humorously they call their litel group "Courage". It is anything but that. It is "courage" to turn away from the gay lifestyle and mindset and lead a heterosexual life as God intended. ALL the other groups trying to help gays call on God to help them and they have SUCCESS! So, Catholics are soft on gays.

More importantly God abhors the unnatrualness of being gay whether it be male or female same sex attraction. God also holds religious leaders to a higher standard. I am continually amazed at what the Catholic church does in violating God's Word. NO gay is fit to be a leader in anything godly. This is akin to mocking God with this abomination as His representative. Once again, Catholicism is not Biblical and does not follow the teachings of Christ. As for me, my daughter is not permitted near of in a Catholic church. I don't want her in danger of this perversion that is protected by the Catholic church.

You got our beliefs jumbled. For the actual beliefs (not the American dissenting viewpoint) you have to read the Catechism of the Catholic Church. Homosexuals, celibate or not aren't supposed to be ordained as it is intrinsically disordered. And we do believe that through God all things are possible.

You're so clueless I don't even know where to begin. But glad that you think you know the mind of God. I'm sure He's glad you speak for Him. Lucky Him.

Wrong. I always find it humorous when someone of your caliber definitively states what the Catholic Church teaches.

Chastity and homosexuality

2357 Homosexuality refers to relations between men or between women who experience an exclusive or predominant sexual attraction toward persons of the same sex. It has taken a great variety of forms through the centuries and in different cultures. Its psychological genesis remains largely unexplained. Basing itself on Sacred Scripture, which presents homosexual acts as acts of grave depravity,[140] tradition has always declared that "homosexual acts are intrinsically disordered."[141] They are contrary to the natural law. They close the sexual act to the gift of life. They do not proceed from a genuine affective and sexual complementarity. Under no circumstances can they be approved.

2358 The number of men and women who have deep-seated homosexual tendencies is not negligible. They do not choose their homosexual condition; for most of them it is a trial. They must be accepted with respect, compassion, and sensitivity. Every sign of unjust discrimination in their regard should be avoided. These persons are called to fulfill God's will in their lives and, if they are Christians, to unite to the sacrifice of the Lord's Cross the difficulties they may encounter from their condition.

2359 Homosexual persons are called to chastity. By the virtues of self-mastery that teach them inner freedom, at times by the support of disinterested friendship, by prayer and sacramental grace, they can and should gradually and resolutely approach Christian perfection.

140 Genesis19:1-29; Romans 1:24-27; 1 Corinthians 6:10; 1 Timothy 1:10

141 Persona Humana 8

Once again, Catholicism is not Biblical and does not follow the teachings of Christ.

Where ignorance is bliss, tis folly to be wise.

Could you direct this newbie to the precise reference in the Cathechism of the Catholic Church, as to where it teaches this?

Of course this is NOT Christian.

agree with you there. We read the bible, and site that homosexuality (and the acts that go along with it) are an abomination.

Catholic dont' believe that through God ALL things are possible. Catholics don't believe that.

Funny, that was the key topic of Fr. Joe's homily last weekend ;o). Seems to be a key thing at my parish.

If you look at the Exodus website that helps gays straighten themselves out, you'll see that it is ONLY the Catholics that find being gay acceptable.

I certainly hope you are not basing your feelings on The Church entirely on this ridiculous website. If you are, your comments explain your ignorance about what the church actually teaches.

But like I said, please site for me where in the Cathechism the Church teaches that "it's okay to be gay," I'd be most interested to read it, so I can go to my bishop and tell him where to stick it.

You are confused. Probably because most discussions in the media twist this around. They make gayness an innate part of personality, unchangable.

Gay means defining one's personality according to one's sexual orientation, and going along with the so called gay lifestyle.

People with sexual temptations who do not act on them are not sinners.

Sin is an action, not the temptation. So God indeed does love someone who is tempted and tries to stay pure.

Catholics consider such temptations a personality defect, similar to personality defects toward drinking and drugs and promiscuity. They are probably partly innate, but mainly developmentally defined. They can be cured, but not in all cases. Like alcoholics, they must take one day at a time.

As for God not liking people who are tempted with same sex attraction: ah, if you only knew how wide and deep is the love of God who showed us this love when Jesus died for us.
