Thanks for the information. Put the system on a ship, tank or make it crew served and no one notices. Put it in the hands of an individual soldier and everyone starts reminicing about their Trapdoor Springfield.
This weapon reminds me of the future vehicle at the car show. You never get to buy the car but what went into it is at the dealerships the next year.
Do you remember the huge lasers that were on the Hollywood movie guns 15 years ago? How big they were and how much they cost? I bought a laser pen for eighty dollars to put on a BB gun so I could teach blind kids how to shoot. I could watch for the red dot and see how they were doing. The last laser I bought cost less than six dollars.
Same thing with digital watches and night scopes. I made the circuitry that was the same for the watches. When I started, we had a 90% failure rate for just one of the processes. A year later, I don't think we had a 10% failure rate for the entire process a year later.

EXACTLY LOL! Start talking about fiddling with a man's rifle and you'll get EVERYBODY's opinion.

I think that's great though - the US Military never would have tolerated the SA80 flap, largely because we have so many strong opinions on The Rifleman's Rifle.

The M16 series has been in production for 40+ years and now completely dominates western military small arms inventories, mostly because we made the effort to get it right.
