I agree that the "new" security system has been continually portrayed as keystone kops, but should Delta have ignored a piece of luggage making noises? It also is silly that they take nail clippers away from little old ladies, but do you think the terrorists haven't noticed that not only arabs have been screened? If only arabs were screened, how soon would they adapt and recruit non-arabs or use disguises? (There has already been a case where a palestinian homicide bomber dyed his hair blonde in an attempt to disguise his ethnicity.)

IMHO it is not about money. It is about outrage. The victim who was publicly embarrassed by this anal-retentive security geek is outraged and is seeking to punish those who publicly humilited her by violating her privacy.
