#39 I never call them communist either. I prefer socialist for your reason also. Your post was so darn descriptive it just popped out.
On the local level there are still some of the oldline dems left. In the national party the socialists are now running the show.

Close friend my eye. Dems refuse to hang another dem, pure and simple. The law had to hang Traficant before they could bring themselves to act. Hypocrits...

Old line Dems? Yep, there are a number of them. We have not heard much about them since they helped elect Ronald Reagan. Some of the so-called Blue Dog Democrats come to mind too.
In the mean time, the Democratic party seems to be kidnapped by socialistic utopians who would impose their will on everyone else, all the while saying it's Republicans who are doing it.

Sad, but true.

The interstates were proposed and built as Defense measures back in the fifties. Thus, Hawaii qualifies for the Defense they provide.

"How in the hell did this happen?"
1. Popular election of senators rather than appointment by the individual state legislatures.
2. Women's sufferage (emotions over logic in many cases)
I better don my flame suit for #2.

You folks are spot on (as a Brit would say).
As a old hand Russian linguist, I am compelled to state very plainly that the governing mentality of the Democrats is specifically what I observed among the elite Nomenklatura of the CPSU. They are communists. You are correct that this is inflammatory language, and it is a compounded tragedy that this truth cannot be uttered. It is nonetheless precise.
Freepers, on the whole, are now anomalous in the body politic. Their accurate understanding of the threat to liberty posed by the Democrats is unfortunately shared by a minority of the electorate.
Blessings on Freepers Everywhere.

But, in many ways - you're right..
Women must accept most of the blame for putting and keeping Clinton in office.....Women also support some of the most horrible politicians way out of proportion to men.....

Thank you for the note and observation. Although politics can be maddening, Free Republic has been an oasis in the desert of political thought. It is really comforting to realize we are not alone in these things.
My brother tells me I always see hidden political motivations in everything that happens and he cannot understand why I associate so many events to politics. The reason, I guess, is I think most people view and vote on their perceptions, not the realities of what is really happening. Democrats have been so successful with their us against them game that I feel compelled to respond in kind. As Democrats demonize Republicans, it dawned on me they are really accusing us of doing the very things they themselves are doing or have done. Because they are doing it, they assume we are too. There may be some Republicans who do but the vast majority of Republicans I know would not entertain such behavior. Read or listen to Dick Morris and most of us should be able to understand the mentality of how Democrats believe the way they do. Morris is repugnant but his analysis on issues demonstrates Democrat thinking, which drives their actions.
It is no surprise Republicans will take responsibility for their actions, which is why a Republican representative will resign from office rather than insist on staying in the face of bad behavior. Democrats simply do not understand taking responsibility for their actions. Because their motives are pure, in their minds, anything they do or say is okay, and everyone who does not agree with them is either evil or does not have the ability to understand them as Thomas Sowell and countless others have pointed out.
I believe our goal must be to begin a new paradigm for discussion. Rather than the tit for tat, or using revenge, we need to begin talking about political philosophy and what our two major political parties stand for or represent. I read some time ago, one difference between Republicans and Democrats is Republicans are scared voters will not understand what we stand for and Democrats are afraid the voters WILL understand what they stand for. The fight goes on.
