I'd guess that, while they probably won't change party affiliations, a not insubstantial percentage will vote Republican in 2004. This year's Congressional races will see no change.

As long as the Tom DeLays of the Republican Party accompany their support for Israel with the advice that "Christianity offers the only viable, reasonable, definitive answer" to life's questions, American Jews will find a viable, reasonable and definitive rationale to vote for pro-Israel Democratic alternatives.

I would hope they would vote for pro American legislators.

I personally know more than a half dozen Jews who voted for Gore who will vote Republican in November and for GW in '04. All it takes is a shift of 5-10% of Jews in Florida to put that state in Bush's column next time.

Let's not forget that this article was written by a Democrat operative. I believe he is whistling past the graveyard. Let me give one example. In New York State, there are 6 Republican county chairmen who are Jewish. 20 years ago, I don't think there were any. The trend is going in our direction.

For over 100 years, in every country from Hungary to Russia to the UK to Poland to France to the USA to Israel itself, the majority of Jews have supported the left. Bush and Republicans are receiving some support only because of Israel. And that won't translate into support for any conservative issues. There is more of a chance the black vote will shift to the GOP than there is the Jewish vote will.

Just remember Jewish Democrats, Conservatives are the only ones who stand with you on principle and many of us identify with you because of your religious beliefs..

While you are just another minority vote to the Democrats. The minute the Muslims become more valuable a demographic to them, then you can kiss their support goodbye. They are fair weather friends at best.

"There are a lot more Jewish Republicans than people think there are, even in the voting numbers," Bialosky said.

Luntz Research, a Republican-oriented polling company, found a reexamination of Bush and the Republican Party among Jewish voters since the 2000 election. The survey, released Dec. 3, found that 48 percent would consider voting for Bush in 2004. Only 23 percent of those surveyed had voted for him in 2000.

Among Jewish collegians, that number may be even higher.

"At least 50 percent of Jews under the age of 30 voted for George W. Bush in the last election," said Bialosky, referring to results from a Zogby poll following the 2000 election. With an increase in anti-Israel rallies and protests on colleges campuses, RJCLA is recognizing the need to play a greater role supporting Jewish students.

"Our goal is to have a Jewish Republican chapter in each of the major universities here in Los Angeles. The key to the future of this organization is going to be the younger people," Gluck said.

Orthodox Jews constitute another bloc of interest to RJCLA. The organization, which has a number of members who attend Beth Jacob in Beverly Hills, recently held a few meetings with the observant community. "They told us that the ones who aren’t Republican already just haven’t reregistered," Bialosky said."

Right you are....also, because the Jewish vote is scattered widely across the US, if the GOP is able to peel away 10-15% of the Jewidsh voters is some districts, it willbe enough to tilt the balance in some House and senate seats..Heck..look at Florida in 2000..if 5% of the Jewish vote in Florida had shifted from Dem to GOP....

Personally, I think it's a question of Jews realizing that the only voice of tolerance in America now comes from the right. The PC, "thought crime" promoters of the left are looking more and more like the nazi party, and that can't sit well with the Jewish community.

Not moaning and groaning at all; merely observing that a switch in Jewish voting habits towards the GOP, while certainly a positive sign, can easily be countered by additional mass Third World immigration.

It may not sit well with the conservative Jewish community. It sits just fine with the left-wing Jewish community, a community that has done more than its share in facilitating it.

So if I said that "I will not vote democrat because of Jews in the party, and there narrow ideas of things.... would that not be considered anti-semetic?
