Your post is an excellent synopsis of the nature of the conflict.

"More rubbish from RLK, the illiterate pontificator."

Just mebbe a tad high-falutin' for a comment there, don'tcha think? Perhaps a notation of factual errors would be appropriate?

That leaves the "Thin Blue Line" and the US Military as the last bastions of conservatism.

You are right. I retire from the Army in five weeks. I wasn't a conservative before I joined, but 20+ years of defending freedom and seeing the rest of the world in all its ugliness has changed my thinking. I look forward to retirement because I will finally be able to express my political views with no muzzle.

Demographics are against us. The "gimme" element in our country is growing in power, and traditional morality is laughed at. I almost want to see the "blue" and "red" zones divided up so we can finally live according to our beliefs. Write me off as a hothead or paranoid, but I am very concerned that the leftists will eventually force the rest of us to resort to an armed revolution. The only positive I can see is that we own guns and know how to use them. The leftists would abdicate in quick order, since they are essentially unarmed cowards.

Shouldn't John B. Judis' & Ruy Teixeira's New Republic article called The coming Democratic Dominance be more aptly called

The Return of Democratic Dominance?

Who cares (other than Pat Buchanan)? Culture, not race, is what matters. Did America fall apart when WASPs became a minority? Don't think so

1. By definition immigrants are alien to the culture. (even if they are Christians.) They do not have our political traditions and history,
2. Look again at this century. You want to see what happened when those not part of our traditions dominated, look at Democrat control of this country in the 20th century.
3. You want to see what happened when the pre-1800 population lost control, look at the 1960's.

Agreed. But the solution is to help to assimilate immigrants faster. Its not to throw up our hands because there may at some point in the future be more persons of color (I hate to use the PC term, but it fits) than whites. If necessary, we should restrict legal immigration somewhat, and crack down on illegal immigration.

Look again at this century. You want to see what happened when those not part of our traditions dominated, look at Democrat control of this country in the 20th century.

Why limit it to the 20th century? The Democrats became the party of the immigrant early in the 19th century. Its when immigrants become assimilated that they become Republicans. Its our job to make sure that they assimilate.

3. You want to see what happened when the pre-1800 population lost control, look at the 1960's.

The pre-1800 population, predominantly Anglo-Saxon became a minority in the 1880s, if I recall correctly.
