Excellent piece of writing, Kristinn. And, it seems to me, right on.

Thanks for being there, and thanks for the great report. We have elected a bunch of shameless bast***s. I can't wait for Trafican'ts book, and I hope he tells on everyone.

To me, the only possible explanation is that the leaderships of both parties made it very clear to their members behind the scenes: "Vote this guy out ... or else."It is the only possible explantion.
Now take it one step further:
WHO GAVE THE "LEADERSHIP" ITS ORDERS?

Wow, you got "whore" onto the Breaking news screen 3 times. I salute you. >>
But miss the point that kristinn missed the point insofar as congress's squalid sluts are concerned.
That missed point being that whore is -- by comparison with that pursued by the as often-as-not lying, looting, thieving, treasonous, , check kiting, self-serving scum that comprises "congress" -- a noble calling.
And one which would require of congress's sleazy sluts an impossible upwards social leap!

He's the only 'peoples' Representative in the House. You
can tell by the vote count how rotten and hypocritical the place is.

Bump!

Hey Abner, in the genre of your "Condit Zone" and End Intern Abuse", hows about designing and printing some Traficant T-shirts. I'm sure Freepers can come up with some excellent ideas. Personally, I would like to see a 'Traficant for President' Tee. "Beam Me Up". or "James Traficant - Beam Him Back for President".

- "You're looking at the No. 1 target of the Department of Justice. And I hate those bastards."
- "I haven't looked at the evidence in my case because I knew they didn't have any damn evidence."
- "Patriots wear red vests to hide the blood they shed... Bring me my dark brown pants. Think about it."
- "I yield back all those plain old Maidenform brassieres and chainlink pantyhose."
- "Mr. Speaker, I yield back evidently all the advice the White House is getting from Larry, Moe, and Curly."
- "Mr. Speaker, I yield back all the bureaucrats who are sitting on their brains here in Washington, D.C."
- "I yield back the stupid un-American policies."
- "Mr. Speaker, I yield back the treason with reason I believe I can prove of Janet Reno."
- "Mr. Speaker, I yield back the Charmin."
- "I say the nincompoop over at EPA who suggested this policy should go to a proctologist for a brain scan. Flush this."

Asking one side of Congress to investigate the other side is like asking a thief if he found the $100 bill or if he stole it.

P.J. O'Rourke always called it a
Parliament of Whores too.
As for some truly enriching comments that I read today, some include, "Rep. Gene Green (D-Tex.) called Traficant's behavior "outrageous and unlawful." Rep. Kenny Hulshof (R-Mo.) was equally unsparing. "We come here in the public good, not to enrich ourselves for private profit," he said."
Ah, the righteous indignation.
Talking about enriching oneself for private profit, there is real evidence out there showing that not only does the average net worth of legislators increase over time, the average legislator increases their net worth while serving in Congress.
To: kristinn
Do you think that Hastert may have felt a slight twinge of guilt presiding over this? You know, being that Traficant broke with his own party to vote Hastert in as Speaker?
To: Brian Allen
Thanks for the bump. I hope all is well.

Thanks for the nomination.

"...but I didn't hear any blistering 'how dare you' kind of language. Maybe I missed that when I was outside..." I wish I could remember her name, but there was this African-American Woman DemonRAT who was the most blistering speaker, IMHO...she was wearing a red dress and she might have been from California (not Maxine Watters...LOL).
Other than that, great rant, and thanks for being our FReeperOnTheSpot for this historic occasion!!
Utmost FReegards...MUD
BTW...do the DeeCee FReepers have anything planned for October yet? I was thinking we ought to FReep Congress with a pre-Election Day March fer Justice/Liberty III perhaps. If we lock in a date, I'm pretty sure we can get Senator Allen to speak...and we can make it a whole anti-D'asshole, anti-RAT, anti-RINO, pro-America, pro-War on Terrorism, pro-FReedom sort of thing.

"WHO GAVE THE "LEADERSHIP" ITS ORDERS?"
Something we should all be asking.

Sure I heard some strong talk about the House's reputation being besmirched, but I didn't hear any blistering 'how dare you' kind of language. Maybe I missed that when I was outside, but I doubt it. The mood I sensed on the floor was of a dirty deed that needed to be dispensed with as quickly and cleanly as possible."See, we police ourselves. Now butt out and take that @%$*ing Klayman guy with you!"
To: tgslTakoma
Was it possible for Traficant to violate (any existing) House standards these days?
