Man Gets Probation in Kitten's Death

NORRISTOWN, Pa. (AP) — A pet store worker who stomped a kitten to death in front of young children waiting to buy it has been sentenced to probation and ordered to undergo anger management counseling.

Timothy M. Paules Jr., 23, of Colebrookdale Township, was sentenced to two years of probation for killing the kitten on Oct. 6 while he was working at Zimmer's Pets in Gilbertsville.

Paules was convicted of cruelty to animals last month. He has also been ordered to pay a $1,000 fine and serve 100 hours of community service. Judge Joseph A. Smyth also ruled that Paules could no longer work with animals.

``I don't think incarceration is necessary,'' Smyth told Paules. ``You have a history of emotional problems. I think this is a wake-up call.''

During the trial, Paules said that he killed the cat because it bit his finger and scratched his face.

"some hard time in a cell with a hungry tiger". Do you remember that there was some idiot in the Taliban, who got into the lion's cage in the zoo after they took control of Kabul? He wanted to prove some point, but the lion (who hadn't been fed during the seige of the city) ate him. Darwin award. Then one of his relatives came along and tried to attack the lion, but didn't dare get in the cage with him.

Still on the Islamic front, one of the Prophet Mohammed's visions was that people who were cruel to animals would be sentenced to hell. The spirits of the dogs and cats they starved would then be allowed to visit them there, and bite and scratch them. A satisfying notion! But back then (I notice) the worst type of cruelty was starving an animal. Now we have torture and photography of the crimes. Awful.

The crime here is the lack of conscience that allowed this guy to harm the innocent and defenseless (speaking of both the kitten and the kids). It is no different than a man killing or abusing a human baby. It should be treated as such.
