" If he isn't, he's being dishonest. And that is, I'm sure, a trait that we can agree should not be rewarded by the honorable. You sound like the liberals when one of their "journalists" gets caught making things up."

I have been here, but I never posted, so there was no need to sign up. So you're correct, I have only posted for a few weeks. Assuming I failed to clearly convey my confusion, again I wonder aloud, "why is anyone caring or questioning whether this pilot is even a pilot?" What prompted suspicion in the first place? And as for the flippant, "you sound like a liberal,"...pul-lease. Show me where anything I wrote was made up.

Thank you for not getting the point.

Liberals will, when one of their pet icons is shown to have made up their Pulitzer-Prize-winning story, defend said icon by saying "He was representing a higher truth," or similar bilge.

As for what prompted suspicion: this guy is NOT going to write stuff like this with his name AND his employer's name attached to it unless he has a burning desire to be unemployed.

They tell me that they are dismayed by the silence and defensiveness of the Muslim community in the US after 9/11...

Dismayed?
They should be scared s-----ss!

The most eloquent silence in history and impossible to "undo".
The statement has been made and it made it clear in my mind that it is final. It's us or them.

OK. Another history lesson for the arab knuckledraggers, a bit more final this time, I hope.

Why don't you indicate your reasons for labeling this post as you did?

Not doing so indicates an unflattering characteristic.

If you want to be taken seriously, you might want to explain WHY you think it's a "stupid post"...

Why?

For some people, their opinion, is priceless; Legends in their own mind.
Whether they are wearing loincloth and carrying a sharp stick or have an advanced university degree, educated way beyond their intelligence.

"The promotion of "self-esteem" in our schools has been so successful that people feel free to spout off about all sorts of things -- and see no reason why their opinions should not be taken as seriously as the views of people who actually know what they are talking about." - Thomas Sowell

The "analogy" to white males age 20-40 serial killers is not cogent.

The number of white males age 20-40 present compared to the number of white male age 20-40 serial killers is not at all similar to the number of muslim males age 20-40 compared to the number of muslim males age 20-40 who desire the death of all non-muslims.

If you want to make an argument, have some reasoning. Your argument is emotional, not logical.

I got really interested in American politics with a show that 99% of you hate : The West Wing. (Many of you who never took the time to watch it and give it a chance... but anyway...)

Welcome to Free Republic and thanks for the advice.
Nothing personal, but I won't keep myself informed through comic books either.

And it doesn't bother me one whit what you think about "me not having tried them".

There are good and bad muslims (in theory) and the good ones don't seem to be helping much.

I do note that in spite of your obvious feelings on the subject, even you can't shake the PC influence of years:

"...don't seem to be helping much"?
Is that like "Alleged killer"? After he is caught on tape and in front of 50 witnesses?
There is no level of PC that can ever prompt me to call him "Mr.", or "alleged" anything.

"...and the "good" ones are not helping at all" is the more accurate and factual statement.

However, Muslim Arabs in this country are not and should not be under any compulsion to do anything so long as they stay within the law.

Or appear to?
As far as I'm concerned, obtaining citizenship under fraudulent means is a temporary expedient to a longer term goal.

As for the "useful idiots"? They have always been among us; and always empowered by better men then themselves.

I just would like to know why it seems that everything posted at FR lately, has to be so disected?

The answer is simple: it is called deflection and/or changing the subject, and prevents discussion of the topic when it obviously casts the Muslim Mass Murderers in a bad light.

I am surprised Israeli atrocities, Zionism, Nazi and racism have not yet popped up on this thread.

Anything to change the subject from the obvious.
Typical MMM technique.

Serial killers don't gather in mosques and plot killing like the moslemaniacs do. Nor do they brag about their murders to tv cameras like the followers of Islame. Nor do they quote from books justifying murders of non-believers like the moslemanatics do. Nor do they have followers across the globe killing in the name of Allah like the deluded followers of Mad MO (piss be upon his head.)

Ridiculous attempt to disguise reality but it won't fly among the discerning.

Sorry, wrong answer. I questioned the article's attribution because I *do not believe* an AA pilot wrote it.

It may pop up, but anyone who calls me pro-Muslim terrorist or anti-Israel has NOT been paying attention.

Serial killers don’t kill 3000 people in a few well thought out massive attacks on our country. Your comparison is silly.

Okey dokey. I'll start signing everything "Captain Dighton," or "Dighton, MD", or "Dighton, USMC." Then if anyone calls my bluff, I'll ask -- with a look of injured innocence -- what difference does it make?

I have to say, I'm a bit suspicious also, Captain. Google searching on just "John Maniscalco" produces this result. There are several John Maniscalco's referred to: SeaLife Center researcher John Maniscalco, Captain John Maniscalco of the Bend, OR police, NY Oil Heating Association Executive Vice President John Maniscalco, this John Maniscalco, who has unusual tastes in videos, and this John Maniscalco, who has unusual tastes in relatives.

But the only references to Captain John Maniscalco of American Airlines that I could see were multiple copies of this email purporting to be from such a person.

Yrs,
general_re, Lord High Admiral of the Ocean Blue, Spanish-American War Veteran, United States Astronaut (ret.), and Current Guinness Book World-Record Holder for the Longest Continuous Period of Sustained Chainsaw Juggling

(Hey, what difference does it make?)

there was a bit of sarcasm in my note.

...it may be wishful thinking, but i have thought from the beginning that there may have been a few good muslims that have acted as confidential informants. maybe i am naive. though.

And while I'm here, I just would like to know why it seems that everything posted at FR lately, has to be so disected? IMO it's getting to be ridiculous! For crying out loud, I would just like to hang out among Patriots who have a little sense about them. Who*really* cares whether the author of this article is a commercial pilot or not?

Hello fellow aviatrix

I call you that as I read your post yesterday on you and your husbands life and his dedication to our country. As a career AF (retired) aviators son and current aviator myself I salute your families dedication to our country. And welcome to FR. Now, ignore the naysayers and uninformed. I did a search on the FAA database this morning and Captain John Maniscalco is indeed who he says he is.

As for the patriots on this board your will find more than a few here. Be patient, you will get to learn who is who. I recently signed on the beginning of this year after a tip from a friend guided me here. As with any board, take what you read and what you see with a grain of salt and your tongue in your cheek, especially when responding. As I said there are many good folks on the board, but the rest I have found to be malcontents who wouldn't be happy no matter who was in office, what laws were passed or repealed under any circumstances and will always see the glass as half empty. You will see the phrase "tin foil" used here a lot. Meaning there are a lot of conspiracy theorists and "the government is out to get me" types. I really wonder sometimes whether aliens have eroded their brainwaves and erased their thought process by not wearing their reflective tin foil hats. But fortunately they are far fewer in numbers than the good folks. For the most part FR is a wonderful place for news and current events.

I'll take this opportunity to welcome you into the USO Freeper Canteen, since you and yours are proud military members. You'll find like minds there and it to be an enjoyable experience. With that said, Snow Bunny, meet getmeouttaPalmBeachCounty_FL.

And finally, I agree with you and JohnHuang2 and think Captain Maniscalco is deadly accurate with his assesment. When I see the arab population of this country stand up and be counted, then and ONLY then will I open my heart and mind to them. In my eyes, they are still the enemy whether on our soil or back in their own sandpit. Have a great day.

Eagle

If you ever go to France you only need to learn how to say one phrase: "How do I join the French army: I already have my white flag!"
