We haven't even solved the "three body problem" (in the general equation form), much less all of the perturbations that occur in the solar system as an object moves thru it. We can predict where this object will be with greater and greater accuracy as both the event time draws closer and we acquire more data points to predict from.

A 2Km bolide will only wipe out 95% of our flora and fauna. Any thoughts on the next dominant species? I'm betting on the cockroach.

Nawwww, silicon (AI) :-)

Still gotta have someone around to plug 'em in. Nope, I'll stick with the cockroach. ;)

You keep hoping, don't you? ;) Ah, immortality! Have you figured out yet how to download your personality and memories?

Ahem! You may recall I have some working knowledge of you. I would certainly know the difference. ;)

The cockroach will probably be abundant, but I don't see a lot of possibilities for world dominance -- at least no more than now, as they are numerous enough to already dominate the world. The same could be said of ants and even bacteria. Fecundity isn't the same as dominance. My bet would be on rodents.

Fecundity isn't the same as dominanceI agree in principal, but if you've noticed, the liberals seem to be attempting this tactic.

I agree in principal, but if you've noticed, the liberals seem to be attempting this tactic [fecundity = dominance]. Now you're talking about subsidized fecundity. Still, I don't see it. We breed cattle and catfish too. They're dependent, not dominant. Well, there's political dominance, but that's a different issue.
To: Scully
Any thoughts on the next dominant species? I'm betting on the cockroach. I suspect after a great calamity, the next dominant species would be something even more parasitic than the cockroach ...... I'm thinking Congressional Democrats, or something similarly nasty and slimey.

You may recall I have some working knowledge of you. Hey, knock it off; this is a family forum!
;-)

Well, I said the liberals are attempting this tactic. Works pretty well in the housing projects too, I might add. And they are a huge voting-block...which could qualify them as being dominant, I guess.

Can't think of anything nastier than a Congressional Democrat. Cockroaches can at least be admired for their adaptability.
