It wasn't a desert. The desert if FULL of insects, believe it or not. You can be in a DRY, BARREN DESERT and there will be FLIES. JUST ASK A CAMEL. Why do you think they have tails?

According to the canadian site on this, the fly production varies according to the weather so much that there are times when the fly data are not valid. If its true in one extreme environment why assume that its not true in another extreme environment.

Isn't it possible there are times in the desert when fly's are not so bountiful as to create an accurate time frame ? To the canadian expert the obvious answer is yes. TO the american expert the obvisous answer is no. To me the rational answer is given by the canadian expert.

No, it just isn't possible! The experts are right.

Dry areas are ideal for flies, no mold on their larvae, no competing insects...

Cold or frozen areas like Canada, however, not only have FEWER flies, but NONE while the cold lasts.

Just see how quickly they appear in clouds in the spring though, as soon as it is even 40 degrees!

And on Dehesa the daily highs were in the 65-to-80 range during the whole time Danielle was there.

While SD County is classified as desert, it is NOT the "barren" desert you keep trying to paint it. I have spent a lot of time at Camp Pendleton and at the Marine Corps base at 29 Palms. 29 Palms is the kind of desert YOU are describing. It STILL has flies. SD County has a lot of rainfall, especially at that time of year... and is quite lush and green. During the summer it gets brown in a lot of places, as does much of California as a whole. You are reaching far too much, methinks. And you are wrong. Learn some basic geography before you start making statements such as these.

BTW, the bug guy's logic is NOT circular; however your constant harping does bring to mind some round things... I am just not sure what.

Did you know?
The Australian accent is known as "Strine." This word is thought to be the word "Australian" spoken through closed teeth. Some scholars say this pronunciation came about because of the need to keep one's trap (mouth) shut against blowies (blow flies

To the canadian expert the obvious answer is yes.

Then maybe Dusek should get the expert from Canada to come testify. Is that Canadian expert from Vancouver?

OK. A truthful answer. BECAUSE IT WASN'T AN EXTREME ENVIRONMENT. San Diego in Feb. isn't CANADA.

You must be thinking of weather in Connecticut in February, that might be LIKE CANADA.
