This guy is entitled to his opinion.
I will say, however, that I am a little tired of the never-ending "self-victimization" of this crowd, that they are so put upon by people who they consider to be on the other side of the argument.
Everyone is a "Victim" these days. Nothing is ever their responsibility, or fault.

This yankee here is offering full apology for my ancestors horrible acts of bringing electricty, running water and indoor plumbing, and pavement for your roads.
Please accept my humble apology and hopefully the yankees remaining up north will stay there and bring no more technological advances to your precious "south".

No doubt, some Yankees are "useful idiots."
But the author of this screed strikes me as being a useless idiot.

I thought this was going to be a slam on the New York Yankees. Pity that it wasn't.

Come to think of it, the South has been operating madrassases of its own just a little bit too long. Time to shut 'em down.

There is no place in the Yankee mindset for grace, courtesy, compassion, consideration of the feelings of others, or for any of those Scriptural virtues that have graced and improved our civilization in the past. The Yankee knows only complete self-righteousness and, in that self-righteousness he exhibits a certain perverse pleasure in seeking to trample on the feelings of those who dare to disagree with his elevated opinions.Seems to me this paragraph partakes just a tad of the exact same stereotyping that the author is decrying when applied to Southerners.
FWIW, isn't it just a little odd to blame the Clintons on Yankeedom?

If Al Benson Jr. inserted liberal everywhere he says Yankee, he might be a little more on target. As it is, he is just perpetuating dumb-ass redneck, still fighting the war stereotypes.

And when the Light House at Cape Hatteras NC needed to be moved so it would be saved from the encroaching ocean guess who they called to do the job?
YANKEES from Buffalo NY!
The same company is now saving the Lucky Strike chimney in Durham NC.

Mr, Benson, the year is 2002. Step into the present. C'mon! You can do it!

That's a damned lie, and he knows it. What's the difference between Northerners who lump all Southerners together versus a Southerner who lumps all Northerners together?
There is no difference.

Good gravy, not another Lincoln-bashing thread.
Please, God! Make it stop!

I occasionally get some rather rude e-mail from those with a deep-rooted Yankee mentality in regard to my little web site.
Hmmm....I wonder why? >:)=

Back when I first started
my website (April '98), I figured I would get a mailbox full of crap like that but, it never happened. The 1st reaction most yankees have when they finally discover they've been lied to is stunned silence.
Of course, a forum like this invites the tiny handful who choose to ignore the truth and start making up a totally bs revisionist history to cover for the lies they were taught in school but, that's just because they must think their revisionism will get read by someone as gullible as they are.
The truth is like Pandora's box. Once it's out, you can't hide it and the public can only reject the government propaganda schools that teach the big lie.
