See...organized and clean. That will be a great feeling. I haven't moved for 8 years and I feel so cluttered and out of control. Sometimes I think we are drowning in "things". I'm trying to collect all the excess so I can have a giant yard sale in the fall.

Re: #639 - Thanks all. I, too, thought it was interesting and thought people might enjoy knowing about it. Maybe FReepers/vets can see the tour if it passes through their town/city.
Snow Bunny and Tonkin, I just saw this in the July-August 2002 issue of AARP Bulletin - "Send Thanks to our troops. AARP, in cooperation with the Department of Defense, will launch a program Aug. 1 that enables you to send messages of appreciation to our armed forces in Afghanistan, Bosnia and elsewhere. For details, go to www.aarp.org/bulletin." (I didn't see any info there. Maybe it isn't posted yet.) Sounds like a great program. (Although, the FR USO Canteen is a "veteran" regarding sending messages of appreciation to our troops! : ) )
Hmmm...Maybe AARP should do an article on the FR USO Canteen. : )
Also, there is an article from Jan. 2002 people might be interested in - Preserving Wartime Memories - AARP Asks Vets, Civilians to Share Their Experiences

Spooky and Lurker and lover of FR and the Canteen. You are so sweet, and I am so sorry that you aren't feeling well. I gotta tell you, you are one of the best "writers to the troops" in the whole Canteen. One of the reasons it took me so long to come in was because I didn't know what I could add to such a great group. In just the last 4 days I have learned so much stuff from all you "old timers" (and you are all so willing to share) that my head and fingers are spinning. Just hanging out has been pure pleasure for me. At the top of my current list is learning to find stuff to bring to share. You, Spooky and your kids, are an absolutely charming family and your kids are so lucky to have such a "cool" Mom. Thank you for sharing yourselves. I'm not too great with words, but there aren't enough to express my gratitude to our troops for the job they do of protecting our USA. THANK YOU AND GOD BLESS YOU ALL!
