Hey, my son climbed a gate WITH A LOCK at that age. He also climbed out on our roof, and started pulling the shingles off. When I put key locks on our front door, and windows, I was informed that I would be prosecuted if one of my children died in a fire.
A determined child is hard to keep inside. Of course, I have no idea about THIS case, but I have experience with a Houdini toddler.

Ohhh can I identify with you! I had one like that too. At 14 mths he awakened at dawn and let himself out the locked front door and was wandering down the street. TWICE.
Guys have no idea. None!

Houdini was also from Wisconsin. Interesting.

Late talking kids are often escape artists, then grow up to be math and computer geniuses.

Your son and my son must be soulmates. When my boy was two I was awakened by a knock at my front door at 4:30AM. It was the neighbor with my diapered son in his arms in the dead of winter. My son had walked to the front door, gotten a chair to climb, unlocked the chain lock and the dead bolt and walked right out. I almost had a heart attack.
