Update from OC Sheriff... Press conference..
Playing 911 tape of the people that found the body, male caller was extremely upset, and scared, he was crying, and telling 911 the location but the cell phone transmission was breaking up and was disconnected.
They called the telephone number he left before the disconnect and they called his home and got a messege machine. He called back within minutes and made contact again with 911 and was almost hysterical and crying saying it was little girl and was very distraught,
When Cell caller got home he called again from home phone and recontacted 911, 911 said they would pick him up and the he could show him where the body was.
End of 911 tape
Press conference continues, stating over 2000 citizens have given leads......
Another press conference at 6 PM
At 955 AM they made an arrest alihondro avial DOB 3-1375
And let me add that when I divorced a SECOND time (after a "rebound" marriage that was the most ill-advised thing I've ever done in my life), I went after custody of my daughter and got her. She has lived with me and my THIRD wife for seven years now, and I think she's FAR better off with me than her mother.
But you cannot make such generalizations. Statistics such as you are spouting here mean no more when it suits the "masculinist" agenda than the "feminist."
The fact is that each case is different, and I don't for a second believe that in the VAST number of cases--nearly all, as you suggest--the kids would be better off with Dad. There are just TOO MANY scum-sucking "dads" around, and in fact I'd venture to say that men probably have a slight lead in "scumminess" in this regard.
I've just seen to much of it.
I do wish that somehow we could slug it out on a level playing field, and that there wasn't the bias against fathers that there is.
But I remember Dr. Laura saying once--and I don't know who or what she was quoting--that more than 70% of the time, when dads go for custody, they get it.
The problem is, too many dads REALLY DON'T WANT IT. They want to be free to pursue the next honey, etc.
This issue is far more complex than "the agendized" on any side will ever admit.
Think about it: This thing only happened on Tuesday, and the perp has been arrested only three days later. That is NO TIME AT ALL to gather ALL the evidence that they will need to put this guy on Death Row.
To those of us who aren't familiar with police work it seems like it should be black or white, open or shut, but the great majority of crimes of this nature happen with no witnesses (which is why they always kill their victims, in fact).
BTW, they just mentioned on NPR news that Carona says he's "100% certain" that Avila is the man.
But that doesn't mean the investigation stops. They don't just want to be certain themselves. They want to make sure that no jury is going to have "more than a reasonable doubt" of this man's guilt.
Often, they are very scared their incomes can never be enough to meet all the needs, and must feel the kids should be put where if Mom does work, those funds might also go to help the kids.
LOL, you and I know it often doesn't.
Best, I didn't know you were involved yourself, thought Mormons didn't divorce. Just kidding. Best, crys.
And fwiw, I doubt seriously that this confidence is based upon what the perp's dad might have done.
Oh, great. I guess that means that we can expect "St. Karen of Carpenter" within the next few decades, then. After all, a series of chart-topping hits can be considered a "miracle," and she and Theresa were both anorexic.
I think the RC church should just announce "that's it, the Saint card is full" and close up shop.

They don't have the definitive DNA yet. They could have very good blood serology. The Chief said he is 100% sure. He taked about crime scenes, they may have a room full of blood somewhere. --JJ
His may have been on file already, --crys
I think ya'll are right.. it's just amazing..for some cases, they will move swiftly..and others they have to just drag it out. That seems just plain wrong.
Yeti...Hey maybe you're right! The VD trial has a warped time zone problem. :)

But we'll see when the jury comes out of that room.
I don't know if you mean Sheriff Carona...but the man cried, for Pete's sake. And there was no small amount of anger when he spoke to the cockroach.
