My children attend a public school. The unit on sex education was really mild. Too mild. Love, marriage, responsibility, a couple of blurry diagrams and that was it.

Parents abdicated the sex-ed responsibility, and this is the result. Time to be parents again. My opinion is that parents have abdicated more than just sex-ed...they have abdicated being parents. I sincerely believe that the majority (not all, of course) but the majority of parents who have their kids in public school will not do anything to "rock the boat". They have what is basically free childcare. They don't care what their child is taught, just so they are out of their hair long enough for them to do their own thing.

It's a sad thing to see. Here in New Jersey (in the suburbs) we see so many teenagers essentially 'set loose' by their parents - a total abdication of parental responsibility. And those kids always end up hurting themsevles or others.

>>>We had tables of drill for addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.<<<
And the leftests scream "learning by rote!!!! very bad!!!!
It worked well but it is now generally dispised if used to any great degree.
Just ask a high school kid working at some cash register if they can "make change" without the computer telling them what the amount is (a challenge if they can do it at all).

The effect of all this sexualization on our young girls is that they lose their modesty. When they lose their modesty they takes their tops off for whoever will throw them some beads.

Sounds like your kiddos attend one of the 'better' public schools. :o)
Our area is considered 'Fairie Prairie' and they teach the whole enchilada. Not for us...

And don't dare give them $21.02 for a $16.27 bill! They won't know what change to give you!

Sounds like your kiddos attend one of the 'better' public schools. They do. I suspect that there are a fair number of those around. Just as I suspect that many homeschools are severely lacking.

Yeah but the register computer is of no use if they don't even know the value of the coins.
Yes... I had to deal with one like that.

Intrinsic value or face value?
