President Bush and First Lady Laura welcome Polish President Aleksander Kwasniewski and his wife, Jolanta, to only the second State visit since Bush was sworn in. Bush and his colleague also answered a round of questions from reporters, including more questions to the President regarding his tenure at Harkin oil. The President and his guests attended the State dinner this evening. Enjoy your daily dose of Dubya!

(Sorry this is so late for yesterday's Dose thread. Am briefly back among the living right now - meds on pause - so enjoy the Psalm - as I have enjoyed reading back through the Dose threads).

Psalm 35

The LORD the Avenger of His People

A Psalm of David.

1 Plead my cause, O LORD, with those who strive with me;
        Fight against those who fight against me.
        2Take hold of shield and buckler,
        And stand up for my help.
        3Also draw out the spear,
        And stop those who pursue me.
        Say to my soul,
        "I am your salvation."

        4Let those be put to shame and brought to dishonor
        Who seek after my life;
        Let those be turned back and brought to confusion
        Who plot my hurt.
        5Let them be like chaff before the wind,
        And let the angel[1] of the LORD chase them.
        6Let their way be dark and slippery,
        And let the angel of the LORD pursue them.
        7For without cause they have hidden their net for me in a pit,
        Which they have dug without cause for my life.
        8Let destruction come upon him unexpectedly,
        And let his net that he has hidden catch himself;
        Into that very destruction let him fall.

        9And my soul shall be joyful in the LORD;
        It shall rejoice in His salvation.
        10All my bones shall say,
        "LORD, who is like You,
        Delivering the poor from him who is too strong for him,
        Yes, the poor and the needy from him who plunders him?"

        11Fierce witnesses rise up;
        They ask me things that I do not know.
        12They reward me evil for good,
        To the sorrow of my soul.
        13But as for me, when they were sick,
        My clothing was sackcloth;
        I humbled myself with fasting;
        And my prayer would return to my own heart.
        14I paced about as though he were my friend or brother;
        I bowed down heavily, as one who mourns for his mother.

        15But in my adversity they rejoiced
        And gathered together;
        Attackers gathered against me,
        And I did not know it;
        They tore at me and did not cease;
        16With ungodly mockers at feasts
        They gnashed at me with their teeth.

        17Lord, how long will You look on?
        Rescue me from their destructions,
        My precious life from the lions.
        18I will give You thanks in the great assembly;
        I will praise You among many people.

        19Let them not rejoice over me who are wrongfully my enemies;
        Nor let them wink with the eye who hate me without a cause.
        20For they do not speak peace,
        But they devise deceitful matters
        Against the quiet ones in the land.
        21They also opened their mouth wide against me,
        And said, "Aha, aha!
        Our eyes have seen it."

        22This You have seen, O LORD;
        Do not keep silence.
        O Lord, do not be far from me.
        23Stir up Yourself, and awake to my vindication,
        To my cause, my God and my Lord.
        24Vindicate me, O LORD my God, according to Your righteousness;
        And let them not rejoice over me.
        25Let them not say in their hearts, "Ah, so we would have it!"
        Let them not say, "We have swallowed him up."

        26Let them be ashamed and brought to mutual confusion
        Who rejoice at my hurt;
        Let them be clothed with shame and dishonor
        Who exalt themselves against me.

        27Let them shout for joy and be glad,
        Who favor my righteous cause;
        And let them say continually,
        "Let the LORD be magnified,
        Who has pleasure in the prosperity of His servant."
        28And my tongue shall speak of Your righteousness
        And of Your praise all the day long.

Thanks for letting us know about this, Ken. I am on my way after I click "post" to check and see if my son still has that copy somewhere under the debris that is his room. He gets Sports Illustrated and as I am not usually too interested in anything they have in that magazine, I don't pay much attention. LOL!

C-SPAN actually took a hard turn to the Left shortly after the Republicans gained control of the House in 1994. When that Congress was sworn in during Jan. 1995, C-SPAN began its awful segregation of callers by political party — an outright invitation for callers to lie.

I don't know why they bother with political party ID, anyway, since theyr moderators usually identify callers by where they are calling from. So there's no way for an interested viewer to track how balanced they are in letting callers on from all three lines.

C-SPAN also bought a radio station in the D.C. area so they could "reach out" more to minorities. That moved them ever further down the road of political correctness. They abandoned two-guest formats for their call-in shows. And, on top of all that, they have frequent call-ins with no guest at all, and their moderator is not allowed to respond to what callers say. So their call-ins usually become Left-wing feeding frenzies these days.

When you throw into the mix all the obscure, mostly Left-wing events they cover in the D.C. area, they now tilt so heavily Left I'm surprised their building isn't tilted like the Leaning Tower of Pisa! They have become very nearly useless in my opinion.

Too bad that bright blue bow was added around the waist of Mrs. Bush's gown. It cuts her figure in half and calls attention to her width, not her height. Otherwise, she looks great.

Y'all don't worry about ole big mouth, McCain buttboy, Matthews. His ratings are somewhere between negligible and non-existent. The last ratings posted by Drudge show Matthews with something like a point five, which means an AVERAGE of 500,000 viewers PER WEEK are catching his scream fest. That about 100,000 per night, give'r take a few. And most of those are undoubtedly dimwit Dems, plus a few Reps and Conservatives who bother to pay any attention to him.

Male dogs lift their legs both to relieve themselves and to mark territory. They mark territory both to claim it and to warn potential interlopers. A Scottish terrior like Barney is also great at ankle biting. Should send him Daschle's way!

Yes, I read your test of what works.
I don't disagree, I must be more
varied than that one test in my
reactions. Some people are & still
have fashion sense, but it might be
an individualized kind that others
might reject in favor of a general
rule. S'okay by me...rules or not.
If I like, I like; if I don't, I...

Well ... hopefully, she will see herself in some pictures and dump the sash. The dress is spectacular - but the sash has to go.

She always looks so beautiful ...

What I go by isn't a rule, it's a response -- an unplanned reaction.

What will look appropriately smashing on one person will look trashy on another. The bottom line for me is, Does the garment draw my attention to the wearer, or to the garment?
