You called me a liar, a lowlife and a simpleton. You told a lie about me, then I told the truth about you.

Turning the Majority Stealer, Long Tom Daschle, back into a minority leader. Stripping Pat Leahy, the Human Roadblock, of his chairmanship...just to name the most obnoxious. Putting Jim Jeffords' political career out of its misery. Keeping Dick Gephardt out of the Speaker's chair. Keeping Henry Waxman, among others, out of a committee chairmanship. Here in California, drop-kicking Gray Davis' skinny behind out of the governor's office. There's seven right off the top of my head. How come I can do that as a rank-and-file voter and Paul Weyrich, a lifer conservative political operative, can't?

You fringe-dwellers can't even elect dog catchers. Yeah, you're a
huge, awesome force.
And being politically impotent has sure made you humorless. I wanna care what you think. I try to care what you think...I just don't.
Wave from the fringe every once in awhile.

Oops, six...my bad.
To: RichInOC
You forgot the spectre of Charlie Rangel in charge of Ways and Means.
With the Democrats in charge, the size of the federal budget will surely start increasing again, after the last eight years of progressively smaller and smaller budgets the GOP gave us.

You fringe-dwellers can't even elect dog catchers.Guess it makes you proud to have elected the dimwits who pass for your heros today. Hastert, GWB, McCain, Lott, Dole, and a few thousand other slugs is quite an achievement.
The problem is that you AREN'T politically impotent. You have passed tons of really great legislation.
Wave from the fringe every once in awhile.
After you pull your lips off GWB's rear end, wave to the other lemmings.

ROTFLMAO, great call. I wish I had the mental dexterity to defend the Stupid Party, but I can't. I just can't see how "after we elect a few more conservatives" everything will be Utopia, when the strategy to get those "few more" elected is to embrace the antithesis.

Tell me what is wrong with gridlock.
"Nothing, if you want things to remain as they are now. But if you want to try to move towards Constitutional rule, gridlock isn't your friend." I'm still waiting for you to show me 3 pieces of legislation that have moved us in that direction. Just 3 in 30 years. When we get a Congress that remembers that we are governed by the Constitution, then I'll be all for corrective legislation. Until then, give me gridlock.

You can't wait all day long. I know of no legislation in 30 years that answers what you are looking for. In fact, I'm only 30. Could there be something? Maybe.
But like I said, if you don't mind where we are now, then gridlock is for you.

The GOP Congress repealed the national speed limit, leaving the setting of limits up to the individual states.
That's it. That's the only one I can think of. Sad, isn't it.

I don't like where we are now, but I prefer gridlock to more expensive and expansive government and that is all I believe that Congress is capable of. In fact, I'd prefer that after we elect them, we just pay them all to stay home where they can't do us as much harm.

Truly sad, indeed. The list of bad legislation would read like the, uh, like the. . . . the Congressional Record. Gridlock, oh glorious gridlock, where art thou?
This reminds me of the admoition about the two parties:
The Dems are the Evil party.
The Pubs are the Stupid party.
When they start agreeing, you end up with stupid and evil legislation. Give me gridlock, please.

How can you seperate Bush from the party? If he was doing terrible in the polls you would surely have him as a millstone around the GOP's neck and seeing nothing but a landslide in November for Dems.
So far Bush is not only the teflon President but I'd go further to say the boomerang President. Every weapon or trap the Dems have flung has rebounded back to them in spades.
At the risk of sounding like the GOP cheerleader, I'm not as willing to writeoff November just yet for the GOP. What have the Dems offered? I think JohnHaung2 said it best. While the president has been hunting down terrorists the Dems have been hunting down the president and his administration. What is despicable right now is their current strategy against Cheney. Makes me wonder if their ultimate desire is to bring on another heart attack. I hope voters in the real world is taking note of all the shenanigans while there is a war on.
There has been the constant scare tactics that the GOP will lose votes to the 3rd party. Seems that Dems might be looking for a viable alternative to their current set of corrupt politicians that is being exposed daily.
Your piece isn't fair or balanced. Where is the speculation on how the current corporate scandal could possibly affect the Dems? They definately can't be exempt. The dems bank on doing better if there's turmoil in America; not that they have better solutions, just that they're better in spinning the turmoil for their benefit. Despicable lot the Dems are, all of the leadership.

The real problem with Republicans is that they have no idea of how to wage a war of ideas. They simply cave in to opinion polls. They need to take a tip from left-wing lobbying groups who have for years been championing causes like environmentalism, gun control, and gay rights--keep hammering away on the issues until public opinion is swayed. That's pretty much the case. The nation would be better served with two or more very opposite parties opposing each other on issues rather than two in somewhat general agreement of government expansion. So what if the press doesn't like it. So what if your party is not the majority. There will be enough swing votes in the DEMs to provide some rather great victories. But the victories won't come if they see the party doen't mean what it says. Why go against their own when the GOP will buckle under pressure? The GOP is without any sense of direction. Perhaps one of the biggest casualities of this last election was a national consensus on direction. Two or more very opposing parties gives a better idea of that.
I'll tell you what the man IMO may be guilty of his offenses. I'm still honestly not certain. But if the GOP started acting on the floor like James Trafficant in their stands on issues that would be a very substancial improvement. I differ a lot with Trafficant's views except for the last two days he's made a lot of sense in his statements on how this nation is being ran & the people starting to fear government agencies. If anyone has ever had to stand their ground with one they would agree. I agree with him in that respect. But he is a great political fighter. The GOP would do well to learn from that tactic.

I'll keep my lips pressed firmly against GWB's sweet patut because that's where I want it. Thanks for the affirmation.
Your insults are stupid. Of course I'm proud to have helped elect Hastert, GWB, Lott and Dole. Being a whiney, 3rd party malcontent, you must be thrilled to have elected Clinton twice.
Like I said, wave from the fringe where you and your pals stomp around, throwing tantrums and accomplishing NOTHING!!!!Congratulations. You aren't even on the playing field (fortunately).

Thanks for the response. I guess I don't expect Bush (or any human leader) to do everything they say all the time. I just don't believe it is possible as head of a superpower. And I accept the reality that they MUST promise things, things they'll never be able deliver, that it is part of the political game. It is not a game I would ever want to be a part of, but contrary to your assessment I don't think society could exist and function without at least a rudimentary government.
The only person I NEED to be perfect, NEED to at all times have integrity, NEED to be utterly faithful is Jesus Christ. Fortunately He is! I don't expect much from human rulers. But I am glad Bush is President instead of the alternative.
We live in a faltering world.

If you like I will give you a hint as to which way is UP. He said as he put his pants on backward. Enjoy minority status, boy. Conservatives are done with your party and the snottiness of liberal republicans toward those whose votes you desperately need is just the final straw.

You can yell all ya want about how your team is better, but when the score reads 42-7 at the end of the 4th quarter while you're on the short end, does it matter what you say?Well, right now, the only team pretending to be conservative is down 80 to 0 because its own players are scoring goals for the other side. I guess you haven't noticed that. You're part of that liberal contingent who drifted over to vote for W and who now demands that the GOP open the welfare spigot with vouchers and other handouts.
Better just face the fact that when the parties merge, it'll result in you being back where you've always been: on the liberal plantation. Anyway, this sucker's game of claiming to me the majority will be put to the test soon enough. Watch what happens this fall. Naturally you'll blame everyone but the GOP for the demise of the "me too" party.
