The most important fact in the Twins case is being ignored. For much of the last decade, baseball owners justified the high prices of franchises ( see Tampa Bay) and/or the annual losses they incurred ( see 20+ teams) with the rationalization that they could recoup when they sold their franchises. The Twins owner is old, he wants to sell at a reasonable price, and he couldn't find a buyer at any price. Thus the "bubble" in supposed franchise valuatgions collapsed like the Nasdaq...
