I still can not believe that the Smarts did not have the alarm system on.. especially with the break-ins
From what I understand, there were no break-ins at their home. Ricci took the items while working there. He broke into a neighbor's home, though. It was just one incident and it happened a year prior, so I can understand not having the alarm on in a house full of children. I personally would have had it on, but I can also see why he would opt not to.

Thanks.. for some reason I thought Ricci broke into the Smart house, but you are correct he "just" took some items while he worked there.. I have difficulty with the alarm system... usually when all of the children are in, the last chore at night is to turn off the TV/Radio/Lights and check the alarm... especially in an upscale neighborhood... was it usual for Smart not to set the alarm? Did Ricci know that? I am still trying to connect Ricci to this case... but deep in my heart, I believe he is just a petty/opportunistic (is that a word?) criminal... he could have been a participant in some role, but there is more to this than we know... When Elizabeth comes home and all of the documents are public..I would really like to see some of our usual posters get together and develop crediable policies and safety standards to prevent these events.. frankly, I believe that most of you are ahead of many of our advisors... cheers...betti

That's incorrect, Ricci broke in to the Smart's home at night too.
